Tired of the BS yet?

Here's my m.o......I RARELY post political statements (R's and D's) because the election is 1 year away and MANY things can and will
transpire to alter things....even Colin Powell has stated that he has NEVER seen the country so divide,in such a divisive way.....prior to
this time-frame there was ALWAYS the ability to come to a compromise/bi-partisan solution. It is NOT my nature to post links.....,I do
ALOT of research and I feel that IF you want to be informed,YOU should do the research. When it comes to ethics, morality, fiduciary
responsibilty, transparency, accountabilty,or INTEGRITY......I WILL DO THE RESEARCH and come to an intelligent,INDEPENDENT,reasonable
and responsible viewpoint. i STAND by my pov that denial is an m.o. that has corrupted most all topics that you find on the forums. The
grand jury has released information (after 1 1/2 years of investigation) that show the Penn State travesty was WIDE SPREAD and covered over.....NO accountability from those who were in power to make changes and right a wrong......LEAST YOU FORGET, there are
9 (that's NINE) VICTIMS to date......and more information/obscene facts are being exposed and it is as IT SHOULD BE. The universal
law is at play here......that which is wrong,WILL be righted. JMO

I suggest a new forum. Rant and Rave, BS, and outrage of the day drive by. Let all the a-holes congregate there. Sorta like the Ring that nobody uses.

Speaking as a poster, and not anything more: we don't need a new forum, it would just be nice if people would post in the appropriate places already in existence. If all you want to to is drive-by trolling, bashing, name-calling, and petty insults, go to the Ring. We even have a thread already started that you can add to! Lets insult each other and a lighthearted Bar Fight where you can blow off some steam.

If you want to have civil, respectful, thoughtful debate, post here in the Courthouse. It's totally acceptable to be passionate, outspoken, strong-willed, and opinionated; but, there's no need to be rude or disrespectful in order to get your point across either. This site was started to allow members a place to post in which the moderation would not be as heavy-handed; however, that comes with a price - it is incumbent upon each of us to up the standard on our own posts and not take personally what someone else may write.

The holidays are fast approaching, cold weather is settling in; this is the time of year when stress and unhappiness ramps up. It is up to each of us to control ourselves. As Badger pointed out, we are a community of mountain folk, essentially each others' neighbors. We pull together during emergencies; let's try to remember that connectedness the rest of the year as well.

Remember too, we have other forums on here - post about your other interests, and see what others have to say as well! If the politics is getting to you, take a break and check out some music, sports, or pictures. See if there's a community event you might want to attend!

I like what you had to say but IMO it is okay be a little snarky and the civil and disrespectful, thing are PC buzz words that I don't like. Way too subjective and give too much to interpretation. The forum cannot decide what is civil and respectful, to me it is about going overboard with it, then go to the ring.. Candyass discussions where you have to be 'nice' is boring that is the PC way and there are many ways to organize a forum without locking, deleting and altering posts so that you have to say what they want you to say. I am guessing you didn't mean that but just my opinion. My evidence is that most political discussion moved over here. How can you discuss when being told how to talk?

SC is right just post in the appropriate place and if you want to go at it with someone start an exact duplicate post in the ring. That would make our job alot easier. But if it gets a little messed up then the board crew will organize it and move to the appropriate place. I love this post though. This way the whole community gets to talk about it.

OK, sorry about the s-word pic, I deleted it. I can never remember which cuss words are ok.

SC has it right, just post the BS/outrage/inflammatory crap in the Ring. Outrage posts are fine and occasionally entertaining as long as they don't clog up the board and drive everyone away.

As far as "calling people out", not interested. It would take too much time, too many posts. I don't even read many of them when I see the outrage topic or poster. Go for it, maybe it will help if you want to try, but I doubt it.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

You are free to do what you want.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I think it would help.

The reason is because it appears to me that many of the most abusive posters get away with it because of hiding in a "crowd" of what they think are like-minded posters. If the only people who complain about such posts are those they see as being on the "other" side, it doesn't make an impression on that type of poster. The only thing that might would be disapproval of those they think of as their peers.

If people whose views you agree with call you out on being a jerk, it begins to sink in with even the most clueless.

The thing is, i don't think posters realize any more when they are doing it. The beliefs that conservatives are greedy, soulless plutocrats and that liberals are amoral, lazy socialists are si ingrained that it is stated without intellectual reflection. The problem here vividly reflects the crisis facing our nation. None of us are willing to admit to our complicity in our plight but wish to pin the blame entirely on our political opponents. The hostility is as palpable as it is irrational.

I think my pet peeve is when some people run out of an argument or never had one in the first place their argument goes to name calling. Jeez, that is so boring and brings nothing to the table.

Thats the main point. And when others on the same side continue to fuel the idiocy, the thread may as well be deleted.
