My perspective: Time to look at ourselves

Our nation is crumbling from within not because our politicians are a total failure, but because the 99% has come to the conclusion they are entitled, the feeling that they are owed something without necessarily putting in effort to attain it. This festering mass of humanity readily blames everyone else for his or her personal failures. They don’t just feel entitled to, but demand a better way of life than they can actually manage, much less achieve. They believe entitled to be taken care of at the expense of others. They believe justified to high salaries for jobs that others will gladly do for far less and then blame corporate greed for their plight. They feel entitled to job breaks even when no work has been done. Our unionized labor forces feels workers are entitled to more vacation time though no overtime is ever put in. They feel entitled to a college degree even if they cannot write a grammatically correct sentence. Students feel entitled to an “A” even though they don’t study for the course. Our super well paid athletes feel entitled to even greater compensation even when warming the bench. We feel entitled to freedom while failing to understand or willing to support its cost. We feel entitled to free healthcare without the need to make our own contributions.

We support and applaud everything that is part of the entitled mindset. We applaud the OWS crowd for standing up against corporate greed while trampling on principles that allowed their views to be heard in the first place. Misguided protesters sh** and trample our nation’s flag beneath their feet. We fight for illegal alien out of pity for their plight, only to leave legal immigrants are left shaking their head.

I take liberty in expressing my own perspective as an immigrant as that of others. If I offend my brethren with my perspective, I apologize and invite them to make their views known.
Americas legal immigrant population do not find difficult situations a reason to stop trying to better ourselves or a reason not to have pride in our nation. Instead we simply dedicate ourselves to working harder and longer. Do what you must to reach your dream. Immigrants respected its (America's) toughness and learned to live up to its standards. They shutter at the disrespect the majority of illegals have for the US and abhor the perception that those dishonoring and taking advantage of a nation would be embraced while those who have embraced a nation legally and fought for it to keep its freedom are forgotten and even disrespected.

The land of opportunity has become the land of emptiness. A strong work ethic decays inside rust belt factories and office buildings around the country. The stink of political rot emanating from Washington finds harmony in every state government. We have infected our youth with entitlement desease. Our citizens exist polarized between those fully caught up in entitlement perspectives and those who retain a link to what made this nation great to begin with. A nation is only as strong as its people. Unified and responsible this nation is formidable, the land of opportunity. Divided we shall fall.

Doc, I agree that entitlements are not helping to improve our nation and those who are growing up in a society that endorses and enables instant gratification. What happened to the days when your personal wealth was a reflection of how hard you worked to gain the wealth you have?

Unfortunately, I think too many citizens are inclined to take the easy path and then become incensed when what they have is what the Government gives them instead of what they could have earned as productive members of society through hard work. Worse, these same individuals shed the blame on "evil corporations" and any other group they can instead of holding themselves accountable for their own actions.

IMHO It is time for the citizens of the United States to take a hard look at themselves and who they have elected to lead the nation, we all need to hold ourselves accountable for our own actions. More importantly, those who are about to embark on the campaign trail (and those who haven't left it since 2008) need to be held accountable for not following through on the promises they made to get elected and the complete dysfunction of the current US Government.

Let's attack unemployment instead of each other; more tax payers creates a larger tax base and more revenue without increasing taxes. Will everyone instantly land their dream job? Probably not, but working versus draining the nation's coffers through welfare and entitlements doesn't contribute to the solution.

Of course that's just what I think...

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

There is more of a consensus of our shared view with those who worked for what they have achieved in life. Unfortunately, i believe we represent a minority for now. A day will come when a singular event will become a wake up call and snap enough of those currently in a hypnotic state back to reality. That is when we will see a revolution. I do not expect that day to be too far away.

According to you and your brilliance, 99% of people are lazy and demand entitlements instead of working for them. I call bullsh** and can see that you are obviously a puppet that has been trained to shill for the rich. Screw you.

You load sixteen tons what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

Merle Travis

This song is as true today as it was back in 1946 when it was written. There was a time inbetween those years when the hard workin man/woman could get fair compensation for the work they did, not so much anymore.

While I appreciate your offer of carnal relations at the lowest level, I am compelled to reject your offer. Clearly we don't agree on many issues and that is not likely to change. Perhaps you will find more productive results by fornicating with yourself (go F*CK yourself for those reading from Rio Linda). Best wishes from the heart of my bottom, "hope and change", and good luck with that.

And we have the general government to thank for making that a reality. The pensions that were once a "fringe benefit" disappeared with the increased burden levied through payroll taxes - pensions that once made reliance on government less necessary I might add. We lost our health insurance when we changed or lost our jobs because the general government decided it would be better to give tax incentives to companies rather than citizens. The general government has been dangling carrots out in front of the private industries for going on 100 years now in order to get them to do the bidding of the general government and help it gain and keep power it was never intended to have. Every single day the general government spends far beyond what it has any hope of realizing in revenues. The general government has driven us $15 Trillion into debt, with another $110 Trillion in unfunded liabilities........it is indeed the company store that owns the soul of the citizens of the States in today's world. There exists no possibility, regardless of how many tonnes we move, that we will do anything other than grow another day older and deeper in debt thanks to the general government and its gluttonous, and insatiable, hunger for power.
