As well as you should laugh out loud. I've been a real jerk on 285 Bound since I first came here, and if I can make it up to people by letting them get a little laugh from my embarrassment, then that's good for the soul... mine as much as yours.

Why can't posters here just stop being jerks and do it without calling attention to their "new" leaf and demanding that everyone else do so?

If you think that you need to stop adding to the BS, then just do it instead of advertising the new you. When you call attention to your new get along persona, it really seems phony. If you are being a jerk online, just stop doing it and you will add WAY more value to the board than trying to become the example of rationality for everyone else.

I realize that the comment targeted you, but my amusement had less to do with you being targeted than it had with simply the wonderful humor. I can empathize with you actually. I can be plenty caustic myself, I try to remain civil mostly, but some push my buttons, some simply do not understand what I wrote or purposely wish to read something into it that is unintended and when attacked, I instinctively resort to my caveman response and battle back. And, when I do battle back some of my responses evoke a certain amount of satisfaction, but the satisfaction is fleeting. In the end of the day, an emptiness replaces it. I've learned to use and mostly honor the ignore button. It sure has helped with posters who change their name hourly as the ignore function still identifies the as to who they really are.

That certainly is a valid approach. However, sometimes it is helpful to be encouraged or have validating support. Who knows? I suppose it doesn't matter to me what route you take because in the end, I don't care which way you traveled to get there. It's only the quality of your public persona going forward that counts.
