I love the sound of the crickets chirping when you shove a generalized comment about "liberty" in protecting wetlands down someone's throat by reminding them that the developers and speculators take people's lands all the time using eminent domain laws...

The modern Democrat party supports enviromental legislation like the wetlands case currently being decided bfore the Supremes this week. Supporting the rights of ducks over the personal property of people. Fining people 10's of thousands a day if they don't modfiy their land to the goverment's will. Doesn't sound like supporting liberty to me.

"Supporting the rights of ducks over people"? You actually think that's what liberals want or think? Isn't your stupid example a little akin to liberals claiming that "all" conservatives want is to make women stay home pregnant and barefoot?

This is why it is so impossible to have any kind of conversation with so many of you. You think in terms of cartoon characters. You don't even believe what actual individuals tell you are their beliefs, but just default to stoogish stereotypes or extreme examples you imagine "prove" your point so you don't have to examine your beliefs.

Exactly

This thread is a perfect example of why I don't post much here anymore. I simply got tired of the conservatives here telling me what I (and every other liberal here) believe, rather than asking.

So you do support property rights? Unless it is a hedge fund manager and then you think it is only fair to bill him 70% of his income/property for the privelige of living in America?

Or support liberty, unless it is increased school taxes once again confiscating people's income, and if they don't pay their taxes, confiscating their private property. Sounds like liberty to me, per the Dems.

You guys who think "freedom" means "freedom from taxes" crack me up. I hope someday you actually get the (pleasure?) of living in a society with absolutely no public infrastructure.

It will be here soon, alright, but you obviously don't have a clue as to why.

LadyJazzer wrote: Interesting, because everything I found shows conservatives to be ruled by the region that processes fear and tend toward the selfish sociopathic behavior I already know and understand so well.

Can't you just feel the empathy and social skills of this liberal?

The author of that study quoted above in Wikipedia, Dr. Ryota Kanai, says further along in the same scientific study:

"Such speculations provide a basis for theorizing about the psychological constructs (and their neural substrates) underlying political attitudes. However, it should be noted that every brain region, including those identified here, invariably participates in multiple psychological processes. It is therefore not possible to unambiguously infer from involvement of a particular brain area that a particular psychological process must be involved.

Although these conceptual links facilitate interpretations of the relationship between the brain structures and political orientation, our findings reflect a cross-sectional study of political attitudes and brain structure in a demographically relatively homogenous population of young adults. Therefore, the causal nature of such a relationship cannot be determined. Specifically, it requires a longitudinal study to determine whether the changes in brain structure that we observed lead to changes in political behavior or whether political attitudes and behavior instead result in changes of brain structure. "

It's safe to say that, conservative or liberal, if your constant answer is to point fingers at the other guys, then you're part of the problem. I'm grateful that the bulk of Americans seem to be sitting 'just left of' to 'just right of' center. The wingnuts? they're here for our entertainment - both sides of the political spectrum.
