I don't care he is a philanderer, he is our philanderer?
Newt attacked the media and the audience ate it up although he was pretty much lying. Having an affair while he was ripping Bill Clinton for his immorality with Monica.
I can understand him defending himself, but I am surprised to see the audience support. It will be interesting to see if his current high poll numbers translate into a win in a traditionally religious state.

This garbage about Newt's personal life dosn't bother me a bit- after all - Clinton was getting blow jobs in the oval office and it didn't seem to bother any democrats.
It's obivious that Newt's marriage was falling apart- so what happens between his wife and him are his business. This is just a political smear tatic. Clinton was hiding his sexual affairs- and lying about them. Newt did not lie- his wife knew about the other woman because he told her about it.
Big difference here.
Look if a man and his wife are not getting along and the relationship is falling apart- the guy has a right to tap into some additional tail.
The days of these issues destroying a chance to run for president are behind us in my opinion. I'd rather focus on Newt's political policy instead of what he and his wife should keep as their own private business.
And who would have thunk that an ex-wife would say somthing negative about her former partner? Women scorned can be vindictive and evil. This was just another low life tatic to smear by the media.
I do have a problem with cheating. Cheat on your wife, who else will you cheat? Plus it sets you up for blackmail. John Edwards is supposed to go on trial for diverting funds to his honey and the coverup.

I hope American's are smarter than the media smear tatics- but I fear some people like you fred will be swayed.
I don't think Newt cheated on his wife- he told her about the other woman. We don't know all the details about what happened here- maybe the man was cheated out of his relationship by his wife first- maybe she cut him off emotionally and sexually. Maybe you would just take that crap- but many men do not- they start looking for what they need and if they don't get it at home they look elsewhere.
We just don't know the details here- and like I said his personal life should be between them. She was a bitch for doing that interview and allowing the media to use her to smear Newt.
Newt would be infinity better for this country than Romney- and Newt would be far more effective in advancing conservative principles and idology. Ron Paul would even be better.
Conservatives need to be smarter than the media smear campain that is going on here. If we wind up with Romney- limited government and policy that helps the working class are out the window for 4 more years and most probably 8 more years.
You could be right about Newt, but I do like the idea of a governor and executive as President, someone who knows how to work with a legislature and a budget, unlike Obama.

One thing I've learned in life is that the human race is greatly flawed and we shouldn't expect our politicians to be the exception. I really don't care anymore about personal faults when it comes to fixinng the country's problems....I'd even welcome Clinton back if we could replace Obama and he could run again.
At this point it's obvious that we'll have a hard time ever finding a person with perfect morality and real experience and good ideas to run for president.
I was happy to see Newt smack down King because I don't really care about digging into the personal lives of candidates anymore, I just want to know what they plan to do if they become president. I don't remember CNN going after Obama for his personal relationships with scumbags that I don't think need to be listed (but I can).
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
...But.....Clinton got a b.j. ..... "the guy has a right to tap into some additional ____"
So, you're informed enough about Newt's situation to declare that "he didn't lie and told her about it"... I guess you have some inside knowledge that he told her about it voluntarily from the start, rather than having to admit it after her finding out about it?
Wow... To be so omniscient must be overwhelming... :VeryScared:

LJ- I'm just going by what she said- Newt's ex told the media that he told her about the other woman.
Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, rightie, leftie - doesn't matter, IMO. I thought marriage, by most conservative's definition, is supposed to be between one man and one woman. If either spouse steps outside that boundary, doesn't the Bible classify it as "adultery"? When candidates of ANY persuasion run for office at any level, they hold their moral ethos out there for public evaluation and criticism, if warranted (again, IMO). Unless, of course you literally interpret the Bible which is succinctly summed up in the following graphic:
