Obama's State Of The Union Address Tuesday

Bush is gone now...Thank god...

And I believe Obama failed to give us any details how he is going to create jobs, fight underemployment and how he's going to get over 46 million Americans off food stamps. All we heard is last years speech, and the speech he gave the year before that and the first SOTU speech he gave. I got the f'ker memorized already. If he's still in office next year, I'm going to give the speech.

I hate to sound naive, but did this really happen? I realize that Congress has effectively exempted themselves from doing anything productive and non-selfserving, but did they really exempt themselves from insider trading?

Here's just one of the more reliable sources (out of a whole bunch, I might add) that goes into some detail on how this works:

They didn't actually exempt themselves, they just haven't followed any sort of ethics or anything else in regards to trading on information they know on laws they will pass (or not pass)

Here is a great youtube video on what is currently happening, and why we should all support the "STOCK" act.

Well I watched the speech- and the republican response- and most of the Tea Party response- until the feed got cut off anyway.

It was a very well crafted speech, I must say that Obama has got one hell of a speech writing team, too bad they are all socialists. If you really take a close look at what he said though, there were very cleaver twists of words used to mask the truth with outright mis-representations and some outright lies. Unless you spend the time to really take a close look- his SOTU or "first campain 2012 speech" sounded really good.

I take the most issues with the outright lies- like when he says “government should do for the people only what they cannot do better for themselves.” First of all- Lincoln did not say that, that's a lie. Second- I do not think Obama believes his lie even for one second- for his policies are doing far more than what people cannot do better for themselves.

Here's what Lincoln actually said- yes the truth is quite different.

Obama defends his personal convictions regarding the role of the government by twisting Lincoln’s own words on this matter. Lincoln did not say, “government should do for the people only what they cannot do better for themselves.” Rather, he said “in all that the people can individually do as well for themselves, the government ought not to interfere.” See Ralph Y. McGinnis, Quotations from Abraham Lincoln, Chicago: Nelson-Hall, 1977, p. 41.

For a president who (supposedly) comes from "the land of Lincoln" - he should be ashamed at such a lie.

On the subject of paying taxes- Obama blasts oil companies like they are evil and says they are subsidized for 100 years- which is a lie- but conveniently failed to mention that the SINGLE largest corporate taxpayer to the federal government last year was Exxon Mobile- who paid an effective tax rate of 34.40% of their earnings to the government.

Way to go Obama- make the best producers and taxpayers sound like red headed step-children with you're lies, while you pour billions down the drain investing in companies that are losers with our tax money.

The speech was filled with crap like this- but I doudt the average American even knows the difference between clever lies and deception and the truth.

Here's some more truth for Obama......

No one was fooled this time by his SOTU address. Obama didn't pull any punches this time. He openly laid out his socialistic distribution of wealth political ideology. He openly set the sate for class envy. And he openly lied over and over in this speech. (details <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17646 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17646<!-- l --> ).

No one was fooled this time by Obama. Even the Obama favored media had to admit, in article after article that this hour and fifteen minutes rant was overflowing with misrepresentations and outright lies. USA Today, Reuters, AP, Washington Post (I could go on) all ran fact check articles where the "facts" didn't check. Even most of the lefty's on 285 Bound hasn't been able to chime in on these SOTU threads, because there is no way to defend these lies. The truth wills out.

If this was Obama kick off for his 2012 campaign, he couldn't have picked a worst way to do it, and it's downhill from here. His hope and change as turned to no change and hope that no body notices.

Not to mention the cynical timing of the Seal rescue. Check out ABC news, this looks like Axelrod wrote it.

Only 35 million viewed this SOTU, down 7 million from the 42 million average. Bad sign for the Dems that their base isn't excited about Obama's re-election?
Or maybe Obama is on TV so often, the SOTU isn't a special occasion and roughly the same speech he gives when he hands out checks to floundering green energy companies?
