We’re Not Interested In Lowering Gas Prices

Here, in case you missed it the first two times:

LadyJazzer wrote: And "the Keystone XL pipeline is not actually needed to bring all that new Canadian oil to the US – a flow now projected to rise to 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030, according to the same DOE study. Often characterized by proponents as validating the need for the pipeline, that study actually found that Canadian oil import growth will go on at “almost identical” levels through 2030 using existing and new pipeline capacity as well as rail shipments – whether or not Keystone XL is built."

Yep, the facts still haven't changed... Isn't that interesting....

And we all know that rail shipments are much safer and less expensive than using pipelines to transport toxic substances over long distances, don't we? Isn't that why we built the trans-Alaska railroad to transport the oil in Alaska? Oh, wait a minute - that was a pipeline that was built, wasn't it. My bad.

Chu backs off statement...

Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Tuesday retracted his now-infamous quote from 2008: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”

“I no longer share that view,” Chu said in response to questioning from Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, at aSenate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on another topic related to DOE’s loan-guarantee program.

The Obama administration is so full of sh*t. These people are funnier than John Stewart.

I did a double take too when LJ's sources suggested rail could take up the slack. Pipelines are much more efficient and safe. Side note, Warren Buffet owns the main railroad in the area, so he gains by the Keystone pipeline being killed by Obama.

The quote by Chu is accurate... and your snide remarks doesn't change that. But thanks for playing.

I'm glad we agree what he no longer shares that view.

We're coddled by the artificially-induced low price of fuel in this country.

Thanks for sharing that link and doing the research for me:

"I no longer share that view," Chu said. "Of course we don't want the price of gasoline to go up. We want it to go down."

So much for this discussion. Mods, you can lock this thread now.
