The main reason for the investigation to come out and fast is this needs to be prevented LJ, and one of the questions I would be asking is how did a soldier, leave his base alone to go out and kill people who did nothing to him. There had to be more than one person involved in this. This should not have happened and it needs to be prevented from happening again. My personal opinion on Afghanistan is we need to start our drawdown and be out by end of year. Let NATO deal with it.

I had not see the Reuters thing yet. If in fact they were drunk, and if they were mutiple involved then they need to face a courts martial and given the death penalty, if proven guilty, and I say that cause that has to happen. The process has to happen. Afghanistan has never been conquered and never will be.

I agree with you... I would think a Court Martial and the death penalty would be appropriate...

But we know what happened when the drunk Blackwater guys opened up on a bunch of unarmed civilians and killed them. They got no more than a slap on the wrist and were whisked out of the country. (And yes, I know they were contractors...) If the government is going to use contractors to take the place of service personnel, then they should be governed by the same rules.)

But I'm glad we agree on this incident.

Interesting that the first thing you post about this horrible incident is how the GOP can use it to their advantage. No expression of concern for those killed, or for our troops who already face increased attacks because of the koran burnings...Nope for you it's all about you and your party and how you can blame Obama.

I have always felt we were doomed to fail in Afghanistan...no country has ever made a difference there, it's like Afghanistan is this vast hole that swallows any nation that tries to bring order to their chaos. We should simply have gone after bin laden from the very start and let Afghanistan just be Afghanistan. We need to STOP the nation building anywhere but here at home.

Shoe's on the other foot... huh? I hope Obama gets grilled for this. It's Obama's fault.

Luckily it looks like the Reuters story is proving to be false.

It doesn't matter. The GOP should have enough material to slam Obama on this. It's his command. It's his military. It's Obama Fault. I hope to hell the GOP can finally start fighting dirty like the left does and turn this into a campaign issue. It's prime red meat.

I don't agree. Oh... suddenly this shouldn't be a campaign issue. Bull crap. During Bush's administration EVERYTHING that happened in the middle east was made an issue by the left. The Obama administration deserves to be held accountable for this. No more falling back on the "it's Bush's fault" meme. He owns this and I love it.

Yep and yep.

Well it was Bush that put our forces there and it WAS Obama that made the mistake to double down and send more troops. So Yep and Yep, both of their fault. I don't know or understand how you could "love it". Pretty sad actually that more US forces will now be in danger because of this guy. Prolly more than from the Koran burning. Will you be upset when the US has to appologize once again for the misguided actions of our troops? Or do you think this guy should just be sent home with no consequences?
