I don't know or understand how you could "love it". Pretty sad actually that more US forces will now be in danger because of this guy. Prolly more than from the Koran burning. Will you be upset when the US has to appologize once again for the misguided actions of our troops? Or do you think this guy should just be sent home with no consequences?
Evidently you're not reading the thread very closely. In the thread topic post at the beginning of the thread I already stated that this was unforgivable. Nuff' said. What to I "love?" I love the opportunity to trash Obama over this. I hope the GOP does the same thing.
If anything, I hope it will galvanize the GOP & Democrats to work together to speed up the withdrawl of troops from there. My nephew is scheduled to return in July.
Speculating on what led to this, I would tend towards believing it was in retaliation for Afghan troops executing US soldiers, which was done in retaliation for burning the Quran. There will be a retaliation for this action, which will lead to another retaliation from the soldiers. Obama needs to do one of two things; stop apologizing and tell Karzai to either get his people under control or the killing done thus far is going to look like a drop in the bucket or do what Reagan did and simply pull all of the troops out right now and not worry about the power vacuum left behind.
From the start the "liberators not conquerors" was a nonsensical means of conducting a military campaign. If you are not there to conquer you have no business deploying the infantry. That part of the world would have to bombed into the 11th century. As attempting to converse with LJ shows quite clearly, you can't reason with crazy. You either have to force it to submit or leave it the hell alone. If you just try to talk reasonably with it, you will be locked into an endless and ugly struggle. Civililization and tribalism are not compatible, you are going to have either one or the other. The Afghans will have to evolve a bit and get out of the dark ages before they understand this.
Look at the manner in which these folks conduct themselves. They have absolutely no qualms about killing an entire family or an entire village to restore their honor so I fail to understand why they become so upset when the same is done to them instead of by them. Afghans don't limit their retaliation to the person alone, why should they expect retaliation taken on them to be limited?
God, I could sit and listen to you run your twisted sociopathic mouth for hours... But not today... Why don't you recite some of your asinine Sovereign Citizen bullsh*t. That's always good for putting me to sleep. So, why don't you take it over to the Ring, instead of turning yet another thread into nothing more than an "LJ Derangement Syndrome" exercise.
You're already asleep LJ - your brain hasn't been awake for most of your life. Civilization and tribalism are not compatible. You can't deal with tribalism by being civilized, you have to deal with tribalism by being tribal or leave it alone. What the soldiers did was to respond to a tribal attack in a tribal way. Warring Native American tribes behaved in exactly the same manner. Warring African tribes respond in exactly the same manner. You can't deal with warring tribes in a civilized manner - it only prolongs the struggle. If you are unwilling to take a tribal approach then leave the tribes alone.

PS I understand your first paragraph, but that does not excuse what this soldier did. The United States Military lives by a code, we do our damest to follow that code. The most important part of that is we do not become judge and jury and excutioner. That does not mean it does not happen. The sad part to all this, families were destroyed almost completely wiped out. Children that had nothing to do with nothing were killed. I am a very strong supporter of the US ARMED FORCES. I served for 20 years, did the Persian Gulf tour 3 times, Bosnia one time along with other things, but I have already spoke to a lot of my Veteran friends and we all will not condone this. I spoke with my son this morning. His night, because of this, thier Post has already had to fend off those that wish to do them harm. Because of what this soldier did, and those that allowed this to happen, (those standing guard duty, those who saw the signs of trouble(PTSD) and did nothing,) should all be held accountable for this. One individual does not leave the compound without going passed the gate. The other sad part to this, is the children of this soldier just lost a father also. This does not have a damn thing to do with Obama, Bush, Congress etc, this is about and individual that became rouge for whatever reason and just killed individual to kill them.
Never meant to excuse what he did Chief - I'm simply trying to understand what might have driven him to leave behind everything our culture and his training has sought to instill in him since he entered the world and choose instead to conduct himself in this manner.
