Yeah GOP shows his ignorance with every post he makes. Thanks for pointing that out. When he posts as part of a discussion then he will get a response....when he does his usual run by insult of liberals he will get a :smurf:

Who here really believes that Chu's personal view on this has changed? He may no longer be "sharing" that view as a member of the administration, but his stammering and stuttering leaves me little doubt that his personal view has shifted at all.

Are people in politics not allowed to have personal views any more?

Never said that now, did I. No, what I said was that Chu, as our Secretary of Energy, still holds that personal view that this is what should occur. He is simply no longer sharing that view because the official view has shifted with the upcoming election on the horizon. I don't think Obama's personal view is any different from Chu's - he is simply doing the same thing and temporarily adopting a different view - for the same exact reason - there is an election he wants to win in the not too distant future and he won't be in a position to implement his personal view as the official view unless he wins that election. This is the president who said that energy costs would necessarily skyrocket if his policies were implemented after all.

And that is different from any other political campaign how?

Didn't say it was any different from any other political campaign, did I. No, I said that the personal views remain the same, they are just no longer being shared as their views because someone wants to win an election.

If you agree that this is the case, then just say so JSG. Say, I agree, Chu's personal view, and Obama's, are that our gasoline prices should be as high as it is in Europe. Obama is just saying something else right now because he wants to win the election and get another 4 years in office so he has a chance with his policies to make that hoped for change a reality.

Fossil fuel sales of production from Federal and Indian Lands, FY 2003 — FY 2011 have decreased...

Fiscal Year Crude Oil and Lease Condensate Natural Gas Plant Liquids Natural Gas Coal Total Fossil Fuels
2003 4.0 0.35 7.3 9.6 21.2
2004 3.9 0.39 6.9 9.9 21.1
2005 3.8 0.36 6.6 9.8 20.5
2006 3.4 0.32 6.0 9.3 19.0
2007 3.6 0.40 6.0 9.6 19.6
2008 3.3 0.39 6.0 10.3 20.0
2009 3.7 0.34 5.8 9.8 19.6
2010 4.3 0.42 5.5 9.6 19.9
2011 3.7 0.41 5.0 9.5 18.6

Production and sales of fossil fuels from Federal and Indian lands can be influenced by a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, Federal leasing and regulatory policies. Total sales of all fossil fuels produced on Federal and Indian lands, which are measured in terms of British thermal units (Btu) to allow for aggregation across all fossil fuels, rose by about 1 percent between fiscal year FY 2009 and FY 2010 and dropped by about 6 percent between FY 2010 and FY 2011 (Table 1).[/i]

In case you're interested in more substance than the Fox story.

Is "All of the Above" the Right Strategy for U.S. Energy? A Q&A with Steven Chu
The U.S. government aims to improve energy production from renewables to oil, but what does that mean in practice?

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I worked for the DOE for 15 years and Chu is a jerk. Worst head of the DOE we've ever had.
