Science Shows Conservatives Don't Believe in Science Anymore

When you hear a prominent Republican deny the existence of global warming or question the theory of evolution, it's hard not to laugh. Sometimes it seems like the right wing is getting less and less reality-based by the minute.

Well, it turns out it's not just your imagination…

You see, when science was being used to build nukes, spaceships and other tools of world domination, conservatives loved science. But now that we're using it for godless stuff like stem cell research and curbing carbon emissions, turns out "science" and "facts" are just a bunch of socialist BS.

Of course, there is one problem with this study. There may be scientific proof that conservatives are getting willfully dumber, but as the study shows, conservatives don't believe in science anymore. It's a total catch-21. (That's the conservative version of a catch-22. They don't believe in math either.)

I know how problematic this can be... science versus my beliefs. And there can be drawbacks to my unbelief. I'll recount a little story. Last week, I decided that this gravity stuff was highly overrated, so I decided to stop believing in gravity. I mean, come on. How long has gravity been around? According to my Bible, the world was created a little over 6000 years. And there is nothing in the Bible about gravity. It's a sham. So I denied gravity. Now... I don't know if this had anything to do with my refusal to believe in gravity, but a few hours after my decision, I started to float around the house. No, I don't mean some little buzz or high from some sort of evil stimulant, I'm talking about actually floating. It was a bitch for about a day, but I got use to it. And it had it's advantages. I didn't have to scrape any dirt off my shoes, I was able to reach items off the top shelf of the pantry without a chair and I found 14 new ways to engage in the missionary position while I was having sex with my child-bride.

I've managed to control it... control when I float and when I keep my feet on the ground. It was all in the way I started praying to God. I told him that this junk about physics and gravity and stuff was the work of Satan, or at least it was a plot by Bill Maher to make us Christians look foolish (he's probably planning something about gravity and Christians for his next awful documentary) and I asked God for the power over this gravity thing. And he gave me the glory and the grace to control my own physics. I can now float at will. Praise the Lord.

So don't underestimate the power of disbelief and prayer. If conservatives don't believe in climate change, then the whole of science had better watch out, because before you know it... we Christians will be doing all the weather reports on TV and the radio, and we'll take over NOAA and the IPCC... and we'll pray this silly AGW right out of existence.

Science does seem to contradict itself. Is there something faster than the speed of light? Depends on who you ask.

I am a conservative and believe in global warming, evolution, and the current theory of how old the world is.
I just don't believe that global warming means the end of the world, is only caused by man, and can be fixed by man.

So does that make me a science disbeliever just because I won't follow the party line?

Science does not contradict itself, sometimes data and results contradict, but that's just because its early in the understanding of the process being studied. Science is merely the method/pursuit/journey to discover which data best explains one's observations of the natural world.

Nothing's been proven or disproven about the neutrinos yet, so yes it does depend upon whom you ask, but they will all say that time will tell with better designed experiments and instruments.

And you don't hear from scientists that global warming means the end of the world, that would be coming from the idiot extremist contrarians and media who want you to buy their hype and their message. Scientists will tell you that it means the end of the world as we know it, which we are already seeing - just look at the number of species extinctions, habitat movements, timing of blooming/fertility/migrations/etc, increasing frequencies of powerful storms, extended droughts, etc.

If you are a conservative who believes in global warming, evolution, and the current theory of how old the world is that doesn't make you either a science disbeliever, or not a true conservative, it merely makes you an independent thinker. Someone to be applauded in my book.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

Interesting...and here I was thinking that there were a few elected Dems who were NOT Atheists. What religion is Obama? Does he make up his own version to satisfy his anti-religious supporters? I think Obama is in a little catch 22 himself....what does his religion say about life, the age of the earth, and evolution?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

So you are stating that if you believe in evolution, that the earth is older than 6,000 years and evolution, that you can not be a Christian?

I know very few so-called "Christians", unless they are the totally knuckle-dragging 'thumpers, that believe in creationism... (And the ones that do, are generally people I make a point of not associating with... They're generally too stupid to be of any interest.)
