Are these religious quotes from Obama genuine and therefore he is a religious nut (as "some" have labelled conservatives who believe the same)?

Is he just lying to gain votes?

It 's VERY easy and there are only two answers. If you really believe Christians are crazy, does that not also make Obama crazy as well?

"Some" bigots? This board is full of them but if you expect anyone to admit it you are fooling yourself. There are not 2 answers but only one. 'I don't know'.

These religious quotes came from Obama's mouth, but neither you, I or anyone else is capable of knowing what is in his heart. No one can know if he is lying to gain votes. If he is religious that is fine by me if he is not, that is also fine by me as well.

I have not seen Obama do that...Santorum has indicated that he would use his religious beliefs to set policy. We don't know about Romney, he changes his mind daily.

Why a dumb OP...I haven't seen any leftist say a president shouldn't be a Christian, only that they shouldn't impose their religion on the nation and it's citizens. That goes for ANY religion.

But isn't this precisely what is being done? Isn't it religious call to be your brother's keeper that lies at the root of the government levying taxes and appropriating money to disburse for the purposes of individual welfare? Isn't it the biblical verses that say from those to whom much has been given, much is demanded that form the foundation of the "progressive" tax scheme? Isn't all of this an example of those who have been elected relying on their PERSONAL beliefs to dictate the union's policies and how it will be governed?

Do you have any additional comments given your seconding of what archer wrote fish?

Our Constitution does not prohibit religion in the public square VL - in fact the Supreme Court of this union has expressly stated that it is incumbent upon the government to tolerate such expressions of faith. While this may not be a Christian nation that seeks converts at the tip of the sword, which was the context in which that phrase was originally used by the way, it is a nation populated in large majority by those of the Christian faith. Upwards of 80% of the people in this union describe themselves as Christians of one stripe or another. Our Constitution, as written, would not prohibit any of the States from adopting a state sponsored religion if they chose to do so. In point of fact, there were States with an official religion for 40 years or so after the Constitution was ratified and adopted. There are still States with language in their own constitutions that, while not specifying a specific religion, prohibit one from holding a public office in that State unless they accept that there is a Supreme Being. That Supreme Being could be The Great Spirit for all the law cares, but the law would prevent anyone who denies the existence of a Supreme Being of some stripe from holding public office.

Not at all Dog - simply looking for an intelligent discussion on the points raised- which necessarily precludes your participation.
