So you think Obama is the reason that OSHA is again reminding people to use care when working outdoors?
You get what OSHA does? This notice is not on any Obama campaign website. It's a friggin public service notice.

The people who actually have jobs working outdoors already know what it is like to outside all day everyday and very likely already know how to cope with the weather, hydration, and physical exertion. More wasted money by Barry's administration addressing a work force that doesn't need the information they are handing out.
yeah, we know....conservatives don't give a flip about the working conditions of the average construction/farm/field/highway worker outside just as long as they get their roads, food, and houses built at the cheapest possible cost with the least disruption to their vastly more important lives.
Glad you cought that, because I have yet to see one conservative here give any indication that they care about the worker-bees of this country.......admittedly a small sample, and there may well be conservatives out there who do care, but they sure aren't posting on this message board. You and Otis have made it abundantly clear that OSHA is wasting their time and taxpayers money trying to help those who work outside.
hmmmmm....maybe a conservative here will surprise me and chime in with a positive statement about the good OSHA does for people in the workplace and that they are happy that OSHA is trying to make outdoor workers and their employers aware of the dangers. I'll wait and see if anyone does.

YOU talking to me? :woo hoo: HELL NO, I do not
think Obama is the reason. I do get what OSHA does. Like most bloated bureaucracies it grows in purpose and power way beyond the original objective or intent.
I have dealt with OSHA or the Navy equivalent for over 40 years. It is about radiation levels, scaffolding, safety harnesses, ladders, breathing apparatus............etc.
PSA's mean they have ether too much time, People or money on there hands, probably all three.

CNSNews.com) – “Let’s Move,” says the Obama White House. But Obama’s Labor Department is telling some workers to slow down.
On Monday, the administration launched a national campaign warning people how dangerous it is to work outside in hot weather.
"Drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in cool, shaded areas are incredibly important in the hot summer months," said Dr. David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health.
First off... "shovel ready" was not just referring to outdoor work. It's in reference to "A project is considered shovel ready if it has advanced to the stage that laborers may immediately be employed to start work." A quick Google search will show you that all sorts of projects are tagged "shovel ready," both indoor construction and outdoor construction.
Secondly the OSHA suggestions on outside work was simply a statement of fact, the same facts that any employer and any employee working outdoors should follow (and most already follow) in regards to labor under the sun. These suggestions are no different than the same understanding that anyone should have if they are working or playing in the outdoors, especially in the summertime. It can relate to laboring under the sun as much as enjoying a day at an amusement park on a hot summer day.
Employers should take steps that help workers become acclimated, especially workers who are new to working outdoors in the heat or have been away from work for a week or more. Gradually increase workloads and allow more frequent breaks during the first week of work.
And it is not even a regulation, simply some guidelines. Your leap from a simplistic thread title ("Working outside can kill you") to the unfounded comment "Was Barry planning to shrink the population" is an attempt to sensationalize the obvious. And the CNS article was also misleading in the using the quote "the administration launched a national campaign." This had nothing to do with an Obama administration initiative. It was OSHA simply doing their job, just as they have been doing since 1970.
It no wonder certain people on 285 Bound consider your posts as outright lies. Some of them are. reference above.

Which "conservatives" are you speaking of?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I was actually talking to Otis, but your opinion is a welcome one. Your opinion of what OSHA does looks to be related with your specific dealings with them or the Navy Equiv. My experience is a little different so I see them as an overall safety tool.
PSA's means they have too much time, people or money? :bs: It is a website notice. How else are they suposed to get information out? It's not like they are going door to door or job to job and telling people to put on sun screen and drink water. I get OSHA and safety e-mails all the time for our Safety Committee. I will definately use this notice for our next company wide meeting.
One of the biggest hassles a small contractor faces on the job site is being harassed by OSHA. My brother is a builder - mostly residential, and he has learned to add dollars to any bid where OSHA is likely to show up- or simply avoid projects where OSHA inspections are regular.
He prefers to work in the hills away from such "city problems"- but in the last few years he has had to take more work down the hill where OSHA uses it's power to harass job sites.
Job safety is not somthing you rely on the government for- it's a personal responsibility. My brother works side by side with his employees on the job- and he has never had a major safety incident in over 30+ years.
He dosnt need OSHA to harass him about his extension cords- or about the type of eye protection he uses. He has seen OSHA shut down job sites for frivolous reasons- driving up the cost of projects and delaying completion dates.
Any more- he has a new policy, if OSHA shows up to one of his job sites- he orders everyone to roll up their tools and call it a day.
It's just cheaper that way.
P.S. I have completed most of the OSHA training courses and hold OSHA certifications- and I think many of the regulations are simply designed to slow down the work.
