I can be trusted just fine. I have insurance. Too bad there's such outrage from those who seem to think it's okay to have everyone else pick up their tab for their irresponsibility at the emergency rooms...

Tabs get picked up with Obamacare too.

For those with individual insurance, 57% will get subsidies in the form of refundable tax credits to cover on average two-thirds if their insurance premiums. Even families making about $95K (not exactly poor) can get federal tax subsidies.

Good... If the goal is to get more people covered so that overall costs come down, and people with pre-existing conditions are covered, and people who get sick aren't thrown off their policies, then I'm fine with ALL OF IT.

Sux to be you, doesn't it?

Exactly. No comment at all about the issues being discussed, such as rate vs. age. Not surprising though. The Huffy Puffy post will have an article soon for LJ to copy and paste though, just be patient.

Trying to have a conversation with LJ is like talking to a zombie.

You'll likely get a response, but never a nice one. lol

CG, it is an eye-opener for people when they realize how much the company group insurance benny is worth, and its tax free. In some ways, (many ways) Americans with company insurance are very spoiled and unappreciative. I'm in the same contract situation as described in your article link, and pay my own insurance premiums, usually without most of the tax breaks that group plans get. Doesn't change for me with Obamacare, unless I purposely earn less money by working less.

Being self employed, I bought my own insurance. It wasn't a problem till I developed some serious allergies. As my premiums rose to nearly $1000/month, I tried to change plans to something lower cost but, because of my preexisting condition, I was unable to do so. The insurance company could raise my premiums as much as they wanted and I had no choice but to stay with them or go without. If we had the ACA then I could have changed to a lower cost plan and saved at least $5,000/year. As a single mom, self employed, and a kid in college, it sure would have helped.
