Cops did not RUSH in to disarm the crazy they held there position OUTSIDE the area as to not be a victim themselves, they are not hero types that Dirty Harry portrade, so even with a smaller mag, he would have been able to reload and continue the carnage.
Get a focus on,,, It is not the weapon, it is Not the magazine, IT IS the person that is deranged and will do whatever they planned to carry out their agenda.
Just FYI, I talked to a neighbor who is an EMT with South Metro. He has been talking to the police and even saw a picture of the inside of is apartment. I feel bad he was called in at 1AM yesterday and just got off a few hours ago. According to him and the police he talked to, he may have bought those guns legally but didn't really know what he was doing. He had three guns and they all jammed. I believe he said they each had 100 rounds but each gun did not get all the rounds off. I think we are looking at between 40 or 60 on each gun. I think he thought that about 160 rounds in all got shot. And these were kids, few people over 30 were in that theater. From the info I got he gave up and went to his car because he could not shoot anymore because of the jamming.
Homicide with a firearm: 12,129
Suicide with a firearm: 17,348
Death by accidental discharge of firearm: 721
And roughly 5,000 deaths from legal interventions(I.E. police shooting criminals)

After a tragedy like that, it is the most logical thing in the world to ask what went wrong and how we can fix it. When you ask that question, the obvious answer is our gun laws. It's awfully hard to stab 70 people and kill 12 of them in a short period of time like that. It's very easy to murder those same people if you have an AR-15 assault rifle, a shotgun and two glocks.
This is the obvious conclusion that the NRA desperately wants you to avoid. So, they do a brilliant trick where they tell you that you are not allowed to talk about the problem in the immediate aftermath of the violence and death their guns caused -- that would be politicizing the tragedy.
So you get your information from the huff and puff wanna be Well sorry to burst your bubble but this is from the NRA website itself.
The tweet, which read “Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?” was soon removed.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims their families and the Aurora community,” the gun group said in a later statement. “We will not be making any further statements until all the facts are known.”
And just for your information, not just in Colorado, but across the nation, including california, gun sales have risen a whole bunch. I guess the normal folks want to feel safe from the crazies. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Now I know I am getting old but nowhere did I read anything about the NRA saying anything about not talking about it or not saying anything. Funny thing about looking up facts instead of the huff and puff.
Think any meaningful gun control legislation will pass due to this latest shooting? I don't think so in a election year. If it was going to happen, it would have been after the Giffords shooting. That incident should have hit home with the politicians but nothing happened.

We've got all kinds of automobile control laws. We have to get a license plate number for the vehicle and each one has a VIN number, so it can be tracked. We have to get licenses to drive, take tests to prove we know how to operate that vehicle and we have to produce those licenses and sometimes surrender them when called on to do so by LE. We're required to be insured and most people don't consider any of that a first step on a slippery slope to the government taking away our vehicles. But god forbid that there should be similar restrictions on guns, which are every bit as dangerous.

Fred, do you really think that politicians operate on their own in a vacuum?

While I agree that law abiding normal people should know how to use a weapon, what difference would extra requirements on gun owners make in the case of this massacre? Unless you are suggesting there should be more good people with a CCW, I don't see how requiring insurance or training would have prevented this nut from killing people.
If a an evil nutjob wanted to kill a bunch of people, theres plenty of ways to do that with an SUV and a crowded park. How's that driver's license and insurance card gonna work out for the targets?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

And guess what they discovered after all of the automobile control laws? It is the driver, NOT the automobile!!!!!!!!!! No matter how many restrictive laws that they have to control the automobile.
Magazines that hold more than 11 rounds should be outlawed. If the SOB has to pause to reload, then at least someone has a chance to knock him down or take him out.
