As a teen I picked vegetables, shoveled chicken poop, racked and stacked 100# sacks of potatoes (filled box cars and semi trailers), bussed tables, I even worked for a landscaper. I had habits I needed to support, girls, an MG, and surfing.

Yes it does get passed on to the consumer. And increased labor costs for American agriculture might put some farmers out of business because fruit from other countries with lower wages take away sales.

I am not advocating that. Some of the farmers would invest in capital equipment to replace the now high priced labor, some would change their crop to one that didn't depend on labor as much, and some might do something else with the land.
