Mitt Romney Picks Paul Ryan As VP

Interesting choice, a choice of intelligence and experience over flash like a Rubio pick would have been.

Because of the Ryan budget plan, it boldly links Mitt with the debt reduction plan. But I don't know if it was the best political choice, running on vague pleasantries like Hope & Change tends to win more elections than detailed plans that are going to piss off different groups.

So by commiting to a vision of fiscal restraint, Mitt decreased his chances of winning the election.

Ryan would be more effective in the House than in a do-nothing VP slot. Bad political choice, maybe. Too bad solid ideas and details are frowned on compared to political fluff, empty promises and kicking the can

Do nothing VP slot? I think that really depends on who you choose. Cheney did a lot when he was VP. Biden? Not much at all, just a man on the road with foot in the mouth disease. And if Ryan/Romney loses, Ryan will still be a congressman with power.

That's true, Al Gore was a somewhat effective VP for Clinton too. I guess it depends on the team. Biden is just an extreme example of a useless VP i guess.

Ryan satisfies the conservatives who had reservations about Romney being too liberal. He also understands, more than anyone I can think of, that this country can not afford to keep borrowing $.40 of every dollar we spend. I think he'll drive that point home hard and explain it in a way that peope can understand. Democrats are happy with this pick too, but I think they are underestimating what this election is going to be about, and it's not stuff like birth control or Romney's tax returns... it's about saving our economic future. I think it's a great pick, even though there are so many people out there who are clueless as to where this country is headed.

Ryan is an example of the tough dad who tells the kids, sorry, you don't get a new bike, we can't afford this right now. Obama/Biden are the parents who buy their kids new cars while not admitting the family is broke.

Great analogy.... too many people in this country still want the bike even if the parents have to borrow money from the commie neighbor.

Ryan is the tough dad that tells the kids, "You know all that money you've been paying into that account to pay for your bike when you got older? Well, screw you. No bike for you. We're taking it and giving to the rich kids down the block. If you're lucky, maybe some of it will trickle-down to you...But don't count on it."

Go sell that one...

"You know all that money you put in your account that your mom and I spent on stuff you didn't have a say in? Well, we'll just wait for you to have kids so they can pay the debt we accumulated and hopefully they'll be able to pay back your SS before you die".
