Good post Martin Ent Inc about the Clinton speech. I also said as much without all the details.
It appears that the economy has only created about 300,000 jobs in the last 4 years. This figure should scare the pants off any liberal who is considering another 4 years with Obama.
Like Clinton said- if your not feeling the hope and change yet- you will feel it in the next 4 years if Obama is re-elected.
Alot more people are going to be "feeling" un-employed.
They called Clinton slick willy for a reason- he's a damn good lyer. The whole country watched as he said "I never had sex with that woman- Monica Lewinsky".
The whole country knew he was plowing her on a regular basis in the white house- no way did he eat all those pizza's!
He never retracted his lie either. You know Hillary cut him off long before that- I don't blame the man for wanting a little tail on the side- but the lies were blatent bald face lies.
In addition to the false representation of all the issues noted- he also claims that America is better off than 4 years ago- and in fact we are in much worse shape.
This administration has used our credit card and maxed out our reserves- at least at the beginning of this recession the fed and the country had some bullets left- but the ammo is all gone because they used it just to tread water- they spent 5 trillion + dollars.
All they had to do to bring the economy back and create jobs was get out of the way of Americans who create jobs- and they did the opposite.
Any shock to the system now will be catastrophic- because we are much weaker now.
It's the worst situation I've ever seen.
Obama's speech last night was as lame as it gets- his arrogance showed through- I hope the entire country saw it.
He even laughed about the republicans saying "take 2 tax cuts and roll back a few regulations- and call me in the morning"
Yes Mr Obama- those are the regulations that are strangling our economy. Obama offered no solution to our problems except more of the same.
And all Republicans want to do is go back to the same policies that got us into this financial mess in the first place. "Trust us. It will be different this time." But it never is.
My big concern is not so much about the economy. The U.S. is resilient. It is about Romnoid ending Health Care Reform. There's no getting around that.
Yeah, we saw where de-regulation got us last time (banks/mortgages). This "regulation is strangling job creation" myth has no factual evidence. The death of workers or the death of the environment is not a case for job creation.
And all Republicans want to do is go back to the same policies that got us into this financial mess in the first place.
If you guys keep repeating the same talking points over and over - it still won't make it true.
The financial mess was triggered by a spike in oil prices, which brought down an economy built on a house of cards. The free market would have straightened it out much faster than the government could.
Here's how it works- people who borrowed too much file bankrupt (happened anyway), wall street big wigs lose their jobs (thanks to government- this did not happen).
Republicans do not want to go back to the Bush policies- those policies have much more in common with Obama's policies, which are not working. Bush was a big spender, just like Obama.
Now I agree that there are still too many big spender - big government republicans, but thanks to the TEA party movement, many have been flushed out of the party.
If you think we can keep spending 3.86 trillion dollars a year when we only collect 1.6 trillion in taxes - then you need to go back to math class.
Government must be cut- because the economy is not going to grow. If you think you can even make up 5% of that deficit by taxing "the rich" - you need to go back to math class.
The economy only created 300,000 jobs in 4 years- raising taxes on ANYONE will only make the economy worse, even Clinton himself addmitted that.
If you think the same policies from tha last 4 yaesr are going to work, you deserve 4 more years of the same- or worse.
And yes- Obamacare needs to be gutted- socialized healthcare is bad policy and the vast majority of Americans oppose it.

You're not so much concerned about the economy? This is why Obama will probably win, too many people like you have no comprehension of the severity of our economic problems. This should be the #1 issue because the health of the economy directly effects every aspect of our lives including health care. Like you said in another post, this country could not recover if unemployment stays above 8% for another 4 years. I didn't hear anything from Obama that would help PRIVATE employers who DO create the jobs and who provide all the revenue for government to spend.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

If the economy is the number one issue with conservatives, why then is the Republican party spending so much time on social issues? Why do we hear so much about abortion and contraception, rather than how to fix the economy? Why has the Republican house spent more time on social engineering than re-engineering the economy? Social issues may well be what keeps Romney out of the White House......by embracing the hard right stance of no abortion for anyone for any reason, including rape, incest, and the life of the mother....many women who are conservatives will not vote for him. Same with the healthcare issue........we hear repeal and replace, but for women, especially mothers, the Republicans need to detail the replace before women will vote for someone who wants to repeal it.
Sometimes I think conservatives are their own worst enemy.......they seem to go out of their way to turn off the very voters they need to put them back in the White House.......sure the big issue is the economy, as it should be, yet they act like people would be willing to give up their rights just to have a job......I personally don't think Americans will.

Yeah, whatever happened to that "laser-like focus on jobs"? What happened to it on the way to all legislation against women's rights, healthcare choices, anti-gay legislation, "Papers Please" laws?
