Romney has no use for 47% of Americans

RMoney was recorded at a private fundraisers essentially calling 47% of Americans "moochers". He claimed that 47% of Americans don't pay federal income taxes, expect everything they want to be free from the government, that they consider themselves victims, and he has no responsibly to those people. Here are his remarks:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.
Romney went on: "[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

The truth? While there are some Americans who don't pay federal income taxes due to child credits and other family friendly tax credits supported by Democrats and Republicans alike, they still pay federal taxes in the form of Social Security, Medicare, gas tax and others. They probably pay federal taxes at a higher rate than RMoney did. They do not consider themselves "victims". Half of the 47% percent are elderly and retired. They have paid federal income taxes most of their lives, yet now that they no longer are working, RMoney has no use for them. They do not consider themselves "victims" or expect freebies from the government, only what they have coming to them.

So RMoney has no use for those who are elderly, those who are retired, those who are poor, those who are disabled, those who are able to take advantage of the tax code just as he has done.

What a creep! It would be interesting if he would show whether he has paid federal income taxes the past ten years.

Since I already posted this in another thread...about 6 hours ago...I'll repost it here:

Mitt Romney Video: Barack Obama Voters 'Dependent On Government' (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON -- "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.," Mitt Romney told a closed-door gathering of about 30 major donors earlier this year, according to video of the event that has surfaced on the Internet.

The person who uploaded a series of potentially inflammatory videos from the fundraiser has claimed authorship of them in an email exchange with The Huffington Post. The source said he or she wishes to remain anonymous for professional reasons and to avoid a lawsuit. The videos, which have created a buzz on the Internet, were blurred and at times blacked out to obscure the location of the filming, the source said.

"I have obviously degraded the quality to attempt to camo the location," said the clandestine filmmaker. The original, which has not been posted in full, is very high quality, the source said.

The source has given the full video to Mother Jones' David Corn, the source said.

The videos capture Romney speaking loosely about Obama supporters, immigrants, privilege and a host of other controversial issues. The candidate seems unguarded and displays the sense of humor that is often mentioned by those close to him, but is so rarely on public display.

The Romney campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

(I'll bet they didn't respond to a "request for comment.")

Can I get an "AMEN!" from the usual teabaggers!?!?

And another video:

In addition, the video is notable for Romney's recounting of conditions he saw at the factory. By his own telling, he seemed satisfied when the factory owner told him the barbed wire was to keep job-seekers out, not to keep workers in. Romney may have been referring to conditions at Global Tech Appliances Inc., a Chinese manufacturer, in which Bain Capital invested, that was fined $2.65 million for ripping off a deep-fat fryer design, according to Boston Globe reporter Matt Viser.

And as for the "manufactured narrative" that he created his own way in life:

"Everything that Ann and I have, we earned the old-fashioned way."

Romney's parents did pay for his boarding school, his college, his graduate school and his first home.

He got closer to the truth in another clip. "There's a perception that all of you were born with a silver spoon. You know, you never had to earn anything and so forth," Romney said to the donors. "Frankly, I was born with a silver spoon."

Romney: If I Were Mexican, 'I'd Have A Better Shot At Winning This. I mean, I say that jokingly," he adds, "but it would be helpful to be Latino."

Convinced that the economy alone won't allow them to to win the presidential election, Mitt Romney's campaign has in recent weeks made halting attempts to highlight President Barack Obama's supposed weakness on foreign policy.

But in a closed-door fundraiser with donors that occurred at least three weeks ago, Romney apparently conceded that Americans "are not concentrated at all" on international hot spots like China, Russia, and Iran.

Isn't it swell of Mitt-the-Twit to presume what "Americans are worried about." Almost like one of those incessant John Boehner sentences that begins, "What the Amercian people want is......" No, John, it's NOT "what the American people want"... It's what the GOTP want for themselves.

Here was Romney raw and unplugged—sort of unscripted. With this crowd of fellow millionaires, he apparently felt free to utter what he really believes and would never dare say out in the open. He displayed a high degree of disgust for nearly half of his fellow citizens, lumping all Obama voters into a mass of shiftless moochers who don't contribute much, if anything, to society, and he indicated that he viewed the election as a battle between strivers (such as himself and the donors before him) and parasitic free-riders who lack character, fortitude, and initiative. Yet Romney explained to his patrons that he could not speak such harsh words about Obama in public, lest he insult those independent voters who sided with Obama in 2008 and whom he desperately needs in this election. These were sentiments not to be shared with the voters; it was inside information, available only to the select few who had paid for the privilege of experiencing the real Romney.

Nah...I didn't think so... Watching the words come from his own mouth is probably more than you can bear....

Don't you just love those candid, off-the-cuff remarks.... (Admittedly, sort of like "turning to God, guns & religion"...)

He is really a despicable individual. Investing in a Chinese factory where young women are kept behind barbed wire, 12 to a dorm room, making knock offs of patented technology, at a time when American jobs are going down the tubes.

Geeeez.

I agree with Romney. There is a huge segment of the population that does not want to work. They will vote for Obama to keep their gravy train. Why spend money to try and tell them they could do better on their own. That might entaile a job....which they can't get thx to their guy.

So you believe the government should kick those retirees living off their SS checks out of their rockers and force them back to work? Or how about those disabled, they should be able to drag themselves up by their crutches and be useful. Or those brain injured veterans back from Afghanistan, they should quit whining and suck it up?

The percentage of people who "don't want to work, but collect their checks" is infinitesimal compared to the percentage of people who WANT to work and are still looking for decent-paying jobs. The number of people who were making $40-80,000/year as engineers, software-developers, system-engineers, etc., whose jobs were shipped overseas so that "job-creators" could make more while paying less, is staggering.

When I hear somebody run that dog-whistle bullsh*t about "people who don't want to work", I'm reminded of why I could no longer be a Republican... It makes me want to puke.

Did I say that?.... Or did you just assume you know what I believe?

Whether you like it or not....there ARE a ton of able bodied folks who prefer their welfare check to a job.
There are a ton of illegals riding on our dime hoping their free ride will continue.....

You might find it easy to "assume" what you think many others here believe but I prefer to think and speak for myself.....thank you.

I take personal offense at this....seniors are a huge part of your "huge segment" of the population that you disdain. We have already had a job, and worked hard to reach retirement . Now you say we don't deserve what we worked for but should get a job and pay more taxes. Dog has already covered the other people you want to marginalize. I am so sick of the " I've got mine but you don't deserve yours" right wing mentality.

Give us some numbers becky. How many of that 47% are unemployed. How many are seniors. How many are disabled. How many are employed but don't make enough to pay taxes. Then maybe we can talk about who the freeloaders are. You can't include illegals, they don't vote.

opinions without facts. How many individuals are there per ton?

You agreed with RMoney, who claims no responsibility, no worries about 47% of Americans, which by the way, those 47% will be primarily the elderly retirees living off SS after paying federal income taxes most of their lives, injured veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq who are unable to work, those who like RMoney are able to make use of the tax codes to reduce their taxable income, those families with children who are able to take advantage of the child credits, those who are unable to earn an adequate income while working multiple jobs at minimum wage just to pay rent, and many, many others.

These are the people who RMoney has no worries or responsiblities about.
