They're ahead in most of the polls.

I do expect the Romney "campaign" - inept as it is - to start pulling off aggressive campaign tactics in Ohio and a couple of other battlegrounds.

I don't really think Obama is untouchable (it's politics ---- and politics is a contact sport - it's part of the "profession").

Even so, Romney really doesn't have much to offer.

Yes, today the projections for the Electoral College is: 317/Obama, 191/RMoney... (270 to win)....

I don't think Team-Obama is all that desperate... And RMoney is going to have 47%, and his elitist narrative, crammed down his throat in the debates. RMoney doesn't have ANYTHING to offer--unless you are in his income-level, white, rich...and angry.

No, you come across as small minded because though you profess to be a social liberal and support all those social issues, you would throw all that away to vote for someone who has vowed to reverse most every social program and hates what you yourself say you stand for.....why? because you love wealthy old men? You think making money is more important than freedom for women, gays, minorities? I really don't know......you say one thing then act contrary to what you say.

I would vote for Obama if only to keep team Romney from choosing any more conservative activist Supreme Court and lesser court judges who would negate all the progress we have made in the last 50 years.

Let's see. We have a representative form of government. The progress that has been made in the last 50 years is subject to the voice of the people (folks like you and me). You seem to fear the voice of the people that you don't agree with. I'm sorry that this is the way it is. I'm well acquainted with parliamentary forms of government, a form that seems like it would better suit the way you see progress (progress you agree with) and the politics behind maintaining at least certain parts of that progress. You do have options. There are places you could reside that would allow you a more piecemeal body of politics. Those systems seem to work on some level that those cultures have evolved to.

But here in the states (isn't that a quaint term) we have three branches of government that are designed to first represent the whims and wishes of the population and at the same time they work as a built in brake, a hindrance to the tyranny of the majority. It appears that the tide may be turning (and maybe not). Some things may change, some things may stay the same. And don't forget, states rights are the first defense against the federal government. That was another little device cooked up by our founding fathers. States do have rights, and we can see how that works if you consider something like medical marijuana, a perfect example of states defying Washington and executing the will of the people.

And rich young men (like Facebook's Zuckerman) will eventually become one of those wealthy old men someday, those wealthy old men that you seem so jealous of. And this country has a fair share of wealthy old men that share your politics, once again balance, the gem of our system.

I believe Romney will satisfy my conservative side, and I have a lot of faith and trust that our system of government will interject that necessary balance for my liberal tendencies. We've had over 200 years to become a theocracy (and there were times in the past that the concept of a theocracy was not consider that crazy to the majority of people)... but that hasn't happened. Have you ever considered why that has not happened. (read the constitution for your answers).

And thank goodness there will always be folks like you to take the extreme progressive side of the issue, a needed ingredient in this wonderful soup called the United States of America.

(P.S. I'm sorry I took so long to get back to you, but I was composing this comment while I was examining some props that just came by post from Britain. Wonderful stuff dealing with Jack the Ripper and also some other stuff related to the murders of the Romanov family in 1918... ghastly to say the least).

What happened to this forum and our community?
I talk to a ton of people face to face about politics....and it never gets this rabid or stupid. (even I turn ugly here)
I think I prefer the sitting down over a nice glass of wine or cold beer and looking at you to have these kinds of discussions.
People who hide and don't have to take responsibility for what they say scare me.
People who try to harm your livelihood simply because you disagree with them scare me.
Isn't that the very thing folks on the right are afraid of with this President. (notice....I do not call him names or degrade his position in office)
People here are seriously discussing spray tans and whether fox news gets a pirate story right while your neighbors are losing their home or can't find a job?
People have the audacity to complain about a 47% comment by a candidate while they ignore a huge segment of our country that are truly in trouble at the hands of Obama's policies. (and there is no "hope" that it will get better)
Talk about hypocrites.
I try to remind myself that mostly 5 people here are speaking for the entire community and that face to face encounters with other community members from the left, (there are a few here) are much more dignified and logical.
You know what really scares me about our current President?
I suspect he is just as far left as the 5 individuals that post here....only he is smart.

Just so we are clear, I agree with about 99% of what you just said and I believe I understand where you are coming from. But you also have to admit it comes from both sides.

We are in 99% agreement.

Wrong again oh pompous one.....I do not fear the voice of the people I don't agree with (perhaps you do?), I do feel sad that we have such a wide divide in this country and seem unable to bridge that divide. This is my country as much as yours, your suggesting I should leave because you think people like me shouldn't live here is pathetic. Get over yourself, I, and other's like me, have no intention to leaving this country to the likes of you, and others like you, to ruin

Hmmmmm....why would I be jealous of wealthy old men? I'm not, but perhaps if you think someone else is, it is because you, yourself, find them worthy of envy?

I believe Romney will satisfy my conservative side, and I have a lot of faith and trust that our system of government will interject that necessary balance for my liberal tendencies. I find it sort of fun. The Park County Sheriffs election was WAY worse. That is what the forum is made for, discussion.

And I would not call Obama desperate, I do find him dirty. I watched a video, I could not find it on youtube, of wolf Blitzer saying that he thought that Obama did the right thing by going on Letterman rather than meeting with the Israeli PM because the PM is not going to get him votes. He is going to do WHATEVER it take including ignore the country to win. And that is how they think. Personally, I would be way more likely to vote for him if I was an independent seeing him do the right thing and not just go for votes. He is a very good politician. I don't think he is as good a president however.

CG....I really care about the 3 neighbors I have lost in the last 3 years to foreclosure of their homes. My heart breaks for them.

I don't think the president has any intention of changing anything. Just my opinion.

That is the beauty of Facebook.
I have seen far worse from you in regards to Bush.....should I do a little diggin?

But :like: your last posts - you actually explained your positions and recognized that we need every side represented to provide a balance forward!

So is this a new play you are writing? Sounds intriguing!

I'm not rich and generally not angry unless it concerns our lack of preparing for the future on environmental issues. If Romney wasn't so blindly following the extreme right-wing script, I'd vote for him too. There are a lot of reasons for people to vote for Romney, you'll have better luck convincing them not to vote for him if you break down why his proposed policies are dumb, rather than stereotyping and denigrating them personally.

But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
