Mitt Romney paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in income in 2011 for an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent, according to a return that will be released Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Romney also plans to post a letter from his tax preparer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, giving a summary of tax rates from the Romneys’ tax returns for the 20-year period of 1990-2009.
I don't want a Nixonian "summary"...I want him to release his tax-returns... What's he got to hide? PLENTY, I'll bet... My money is on paying a bunch in back taxes under an IRS "amnesty" agreement when they busted his chops for what's in some of his offshore accounts....

I heard that Mr. Romney's actual tax returns are stored for safe keeping in the same place Mr. Obama's actual birth certificate and other critical identifying documents are stored. We know it's safe there. We will NEVER see the actual documents and anyone ranting about seeing them will be dismissed as a lunatic.... rofllol
Gee, what I'm telling you, (and the RNC just confirmed it), is that he retroactively-engineered his returns to come up with the effective rate of 14.1%...Because if he hadn't, the tax-rate would have been 9% !!!!
I don't care about the raw number of dollars... For a guy that hides his assets off-shore, an effective tax-rate of 9% is disgusting...
According to the story below, for 2011 the Romney's donated $4 million, or 30 percent of their income to charity. They only claimed a portion of the $4 million, $2.25 million because he said he pledged to keep his effective rate above 13%.
So apparently he paid $1.75 million more in taxes than he had to. He could of also just donated less to charity to accomplish the same thing (keeping the rate above 13%).
Anybody here can accomplish much the same thing if they want to donate a huge portion of their income to charity. And anyone here is free to overpay their income tax too, if they want. I'm sure the big complainers of the Bush tax cuts here are either continuing to pay the old higher rates, or have been donating all of their savings to charities. Right? lol
