Just over a month to go Science Chic, and the board will go back to what passes for normal here. Which ever side loses in the presidential election will, on day 1, start on offense attacking the president, and which ever side wins will play on defense for 4 years. That's the way it has always been.....and really, how could it be any different? Maybe we could hire a few of the replacement refs to officiate our board?

..............................or not.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

archer....I am tired of my words being taken out of context......
example....

Becky wrote:
Once again.....you are putting words and thoughts in my mouth.
Park County is overwhelmingly Republican.

I don't live in Park County. And when did this become just a Park County board....even the owner doesn't live in Park County.

What I actually said was......

"Park County is overwhelmingly Republican.
A good deal of Conifer and the 285 corridor is mostly conservative.
Your party is a minority in this area."

I never said liberal views were BS. I personally believe that how some of you express them is BS.

No one ever said that you or anyone else didn't have a right to post your opinions here.
I think many of us just wanted a more civilized and less condescending atmosphere.

and LJ.....I just feel sorry for you. Much of what you say you have endured is just plain wrong for others to do to you but what frustrates me is that you have become so bitter that you have lost site of how your behavior affects so many more people who are not guilty of those behaviors towards you. You have put your wide paint brush away in favor of a full blown power sprayer.
As I have said MANY times archer. My apologies for losing my temper. I am only human. My frustration with you is that you pick and choose what you want to hear in many posts here.
You take bits and pieces of posts and somehow come to a conclusion that was never intended by a poster.
I can admit when I am wrong.....can you?
SC...I totally agree with this statement.

it's up to you to be responsible for what you post and where you post - you yourself have control over that.

I guess that is what my beef boils down to. I post with my name and a few folks want to make sure I am accountable for what I post and for the most part I am OK with that. One has to be accountable for what they do and say. I don't have a choice but to be accountable because I have chosen to use my name as my nic. Most everyone uses an alias here and a small handful abuse that anonymity. I am going to continue to work on my own personal growth....that is all I can do.
I am going to try and not say here what I would not say to your face.....though many that know me understand that I pretty much say what I mean most of the time.
Talking politics does not have to be a gutter game. There has to be a respectful more dignified way to approach the subject.
I hope this forum can find that before many of us just completely give up on this medium of communication.
This website started as a "police yourself" environment. People don't do that anymore.
There used to be a preference to building up a great business and ignoring the bad ones. Now peoples businesses are used as a tool for revenge.
SC...I want to see this site be a success. I really do. I don't like carrying ill will towards anyone here but I think this site needs some strong leadership and I mean this with NO disrespect. This...like any job, requires hard work and with all due respect.....the tone of this site or Pinecam or a school or a government or even a family is set at the top.
We all can strive to be better each day.

Edited to add......tonight I saw some good leadership.

archer wrote: Oh right (no pun intended) , Romney supporters are sweet and lovable, they would never do anything nasty. You just keep those blinders firmly on place. It's not even worth the effort to pull up all the hateful things Romney supporters have done. Heard one the other day about the Republican party headquarters in southern Virginia that had hateful pictures of Obama on their Facebook page....not funny pictures, they were purely hateful. But yeah, only liberals are nasty. I am so sick of the conservatives here acting like they are saints...you aren't.

I'm not everybody. I'm me. I don't do anything nasty. It serves no purpose. Individual people do individually nasty things. You can grab anyone from any party and try to paint the whole group with that, but that would be wrong.

Certain liberals are nasty, certain conservatives are nasty. I paint the nasty ones with the nasty brush, I don't use a broad brush.

I have some good liberal friends. We have some fun bantering. They aren't nasty. We discuss policy, not attack individuals. Most of the nastyness here has to do with individual attacking, and painting a broad brush from there.

And yes...I'm a saint!!

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

The daily drive-by flooding of outrage posts with few replies just clutters up the site and drives people away. I really couldn't care less anymore about the nastiness, snarky, cynical posts, it's more an organization and readability problem and lots of dupe topics. It is really the ultimate in selfishness to dominate the site with drive-by CH posts, and contribute nothing else in any of the other threads. It is not a problem with the site design or owners, just inconsideration and selfishness of a few posters with a personal mission. Carry on! :)

It's not such a big deal - don't read threads started by a poster who gives you heartburn and, most especially, don't respond to them. Forget about self-moderation - some will but some just won't - and practice self-control. Nobody is forced to read or respond. I can't believe the number of people who can't ignore someone without an "ignore" button or, for that matter, the people who can't ignore someone with an "ignore" button and have to keep pointing out that they are ignoring that poster.

I agree. Too many times it is just outrage of the day and when you respond to it. they don't have anything to back it up with.
