The people have spoken. Congrats to Obama. We get what we deserve. Frankly with all the canvassing that we did I learned that there will be people who will continue to want the largess and will have to bear the brunt of the economic disaster before they get the message. Let it start big time rather than kicking the can down the road.

Thanks for making your point Otis.

IN NOVEMBER 2014, WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND ONE-THIRD OF THE SENATE! DONT BLOW IT!

“When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles

SC, I remember well how liberals felt about Bush being elected to a second term....even worse than we felt when he was elected to his first term. I also remember that we were called unpatriotic, unamerican, and traitors for not fully supporting the legally elected president. Now the tables are turned, and the conservatives are claiming the patriotism for opposing the legally elected president. Sorry, but I can't muster up much sympathy for their hurt feelings, not after all the abuse they heaped on liberals during the Bush years for doing exactly what they are doing now.

What does it mean when the flag is flown upside down?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_it_ ... pside_down

An American flag or for that matter any flag flown upside-down is considered a sign of distress...Mutiny, piracy, sinking, coup, rebellion of the people/government. The fact that any flag flown upside-down means distress is not the whole story however... flags flown upside-down can and are used as a form of protest.

You are right to fly the flag upside down Otis. The country is, indeed, in distress. It needs a leader but instead we reinstalled an assclown for four more years of bad policy. You are right to protest and I agree with your assessment of the situation.

And you certainly don't have to archer. I honestly think that many here have too thin of skins, read too much into what a poster has written rather than how they actually meant it because the tone and inflection is missing in the written word, or just live to gleefully point out each others flaws or condemn them for their views rather than taking the time to fully understand them and debate them reasonably.

I personally really like and respect people who take the high road and don't take the bait when they are being taunted. As CG posted as a picture earlier, it's says a lot about one's character by how they manage when they have nothing, and how they behave when they have everything.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I feel that if you're okay with flying the flag upside down, then you should be okay with burning it. Both are a form of protest. Both are signs of someone throwing a childish hissy fit. Accept the fact that we had an election and their was a winner. Learn from it and come to the next election with the lessons learned. Everyone is so worried about the children, why not show them how to handle losing with character?

I personally don't think either is okay. Have some respect for the symbol of our country. Have an opposing opinion, dissent, disagree, but have some respect for OUR country.

The winning side doesn't have members disrespecting the American flag...

Otis isn't disrespecting the flag. That is merely your opinion of what he is doing. That does not make you right. It just simply means that is your opinion. There are others who see it for exactly what it is.

Exactly, a hissy fit.

Strange how you describe my stance as an opinion, but try to call what others see it for as "fact".

This whole site is nothing but opinions. But thanks for pointing that out.
