So those lame duck GOP congressional members in Michigan have struck once again. Earlier in the legislative session, the GOP controlled Michigan congress passed legislation that would grant broad unprecendent emergency powers to the govenor to take over local communities and school districts that the governor deems to be in poor financial shape. Those emergency powers include being able to reorganize governments and school boards, terminate contracts, and pretty much anything else the governor wishes to do.
Michigan voters voted this law down by a wide margin in November. Now the GOP Michigan congress has passed essentially the same bill with a rider that prevents the new law from struck down by referendum. This even though the people have made it clear they do not want this abusive power in the hands of the governor.
Elections do have consequences, don't they? I believe the Gov was elected 2 years ago so now they will have to wait a couple more years. Hopefully before then, the man can eliminate some of the rot in Detroit.

I saw one story where Detroit was leasing 10 year old Dodges for over $700 a month from a local dealer. Just so much graft and corruption there, it needs a higher power to clean it up.

It was over a year ago so forgive me if I can't find it right now. I suppose you think Detroit problems are all "W"'s fault?
Personally I blame generations of one party rule.
