And I don't disagree with that... In fact, it's been my position for YEARS that ALL income be subject to SS payment taxes... You've heard me say it over and over. Get rid of the $106,800 limit. The system would pay for itself for a couple of hundred years.
lol More soaking the rich? Very fair LJ. Especially when they are looking at means testing. "Yes, rich people, we want you to pay Social Security taxes on all your income, and if you do that, you won't get to actually use it when you retire."
(Unless you manage to spend all you have before you reach 65.)
Why, yes...It *IS* fair... Instead of soaking those making up to $106,800, and giving those making more than that a "free pass" on the money they make over that amount, everybody should pay the same percentage on EVERYTHING they make. It's called "fairness." I'd also like to see it extended to capital-gains income. The idea that the "wealthier pay more" is called "progressivity", and it's been the basis for the concept of "fair taxation" ever since income taxes were invented.
And "they" are looking at all kinds of things to make it more "fair"--means-testing Medicare among others. Putting a max-limit on second-home mortgage deductions, private jets, (car elevators?).... The top 1% have gotten 93% of income gains over the last 30+ years...It's about time they started paying a fair share of all of the additional wealth they've reaped, at the expense of the bottom 99% who have been losing buying power and wealth for the same time period...
Sounds like you prefer the Cuban model where your Doctor gets the same pay as your taxi driver. That hack works just as hard as that quack and puts just as much effort into his work.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Obama already runs the perfect system. The earners and capitalists get to pay only 15 to 20% on their money. And corporations get to keep income earned overseas. Obama, the weak president, has overseen one of the largest increases in wealth disparity in American history. And years of stagnant wages and wealth loss for middle and lower income Americans, especially minorities.

But they are the facts. Obama hasn't done anything to change it.
With Dems, it is all about intentions instead of deeds.
Immigration reform? BHO was supposed to tackle that in his first term. Instead very little has changed. In fact illegals are going home because the economy has stagnated under Obama.

It's a fantasy-land, ain't it? :
My god...I swear I think I was like 5, in 1966 when my dad told me republicans are for the rich and the democrats are for the rest of us..So I was more sophisticated politically when I was in kindergarten than Fred is right now! A grown man - He doesnt even know what he stands for
I remember when they called the Democrats "the deregulators" after the banking crisis, and guys like Fred ran around repeating it like idiots? I thought I had seen it all then..But
