This VIP card is signed by one of the top executives of the company...I think its originally to be used by quality control because they always grovel when I present it...I've had it for about 8 years and have used it literally hundreds of times around the country
One of the major shareholders of Fox is a Saudi Prince, or so I am told. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that shares of all the major networks are in the hands of folks not neccessarily friendly to US interests.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
1. Who cares, that is what TV stations do.
2. Who cares, most try and legally reduce their taxes, I am sure Al has not only paid his share, he freaking served as VP, served people.
3. I would be curious to see data, which station is more newsy by definition - FOX, ABC, NBC, HUFFPOST, Drudge or Al Jazera? Which one provides more facts and holds back less? I know we don't like real data around here, it gets in the way of propaganda (our favorite info source), but??
4. Most don't understand if a company is publicly traded, it can be owned by foreigners, yet still be called American (ford, GE, etc.) - people who play the country card with big firms just get it wrong. I would bet some here own some Al Jazera through funds. Perhaps some that hate it.
Al Jazeera plays a very difficult game in the Middle East, trying to get the news out in autocracies that don't support freedom of the press and hate being criticized.
I can see that it might decide which stories actually get reported on.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
That said - you don't see a lot of criticism for Qatar.
(I've been there --- and don't really see a lot to criticize ---- the Doha
debates get fairly uncomfortable if you're a conservative Muslim monarch).
IMO, Qatar has a fairly good track record, socially and politically. They've brokered peace in numerous sticky situations (prominently, with Lebanon). They handle tough debates openly and deliberately. They've also spent more per capita on education than most Arab economies. I think they're going to lead the GCC region ---- and so --- getting back to the original topic --- I'm not the least bit concerned about Al Jazeera buying its way into American homes.

Truly Big Doug, You might be the most brilliant troll on the Internet.
Science Chic wrote: I've often wondered the same thing myself...
Quit wondering, because i'm not a troll...One time I went into the Popyes in Ft Myres, I showed the card, I didn't say a word and the guy at the counter who looked like a manager turned around and said "Black Card"...And everybody started scrambling..When he went back to fill my order he was saying "its a black, black card everyone, lets go.....!" 24 pieces regular, 24 extra spicey, a couple dozens bisquit and drinks for all the kids...
We ate for days on that...It was great on family vacations..
