You aren't seeing legislation for hand guns because, contrary to the rightie hysteria, liberals do not want to ban hand guns. Yeah, maybe a few anti gun lefties would want to see that, but the majority, I believe, do not.

But if handguns are used more often in murders than high capacity rifles, why the sudden push to ban what's not used as often?

To get as many semi-automatic, rapid-fire, high-capacity, high-powered killing machines off the street as possible. Since that definition includes assault-rifles as well as some things classified as pistols, I hope they get as many of them out of circulation as possible. You don't need an AR-15 to kill a deer. They're used for killing people--as many as possible, as quickly as possible....(as are Glocks with 31-round magazines).
I used an AR-10, the higher calibre brother of he AR-15 this elk season and got one.
Dirty little secret? That bolt action .30 calibre rifle is more likely to kill you with one shot and penetrate a bullet proof vest than the .223 AR-15. Same story with pappy's 12 gauge shotgun.

Why don't you use a hammer to kill the next one...I hear they're more deadly.... :bash
Interesting stat per KOA, Boulder had no homicides last year and they normally have 8-9. (They must have tracked down and killed the last conservative in Boulder in 2010.)
