Newtown CT Takes Wayne LaPierre's Advice

PERHAPS I should have been more specific.........MENTAL HEALTH issues within the background checking process......THAT
loophole is required to be closed.......that takes MONEY.......from my POV, I would have been more inclined to view the
NRA's suggestion as positive.....IF......THEY HAD STRUCTURED A MULTI-PRONG APPROACH to the issue.....the singular
approach that they are endorsing is woefully lacking in it's construct. JMO

How does that make the NRA responsible to assist with the funding?

the "gun run" is making the CORPORATION OBSCENELY RICH AND NOT THE MACHINISTS......

That being the case, why aren't you calling for those corporations to assist with the funding?

Or am I misunderstanding you?

NO, you are NOT misunderstanding me......those individuals/entities that are reaping the OBSCENE profits should be
required to "pony up" and assist in the process of improving the "system"......

JMO.........from my observation the "gun run" is an incredible ploy on behalf of corporations/organizations that reap the
benefits.....(meaning, "a sheep" mentality will ALWAYS prevail........) when you are being manipulated and DO NOT
realize it........I believe the word insidious applies.......JMO

...The NRA is going to bring all of its knowledge, dedication and
resources to develop a model National School Shield Emergency
Response Program for every school that wants it. From armed security
to building design and access control to information technology to
student and teacher training, this multi-faceted program will be
developed by the very best experts in their fields...

Looks like a multi-prong approach, funded by NRA, to me. But, it has been, as far as I can see, totally ignored/rejected.

The BOLDED is NOT the multifaceted program I was referring to....I watched the speech in real time. THIS bolded statement is all inclusive of GUNS and does NOT implement assistance in any other arena, such as background checks,
ENFORCING the loopholes that are present in the system or assisting in an EFFECTIVE way to insure mentally ill individuals
are restricted to gun access......THOSE issues are a portion of the COMPLETE PROBLEM and the NRA opted to address
ONLY the portion that would CONTINUE to profit their corporate interests/allies/money partners. JMO AGAIN, IF the
NRA would have indicated EARNEST assistance with the above issues AND their proposed plan (above) my view of the
organization would have INCREASED BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS.......as I indicated before.....sorely lacking in a comprehensive approach.....JMO

Mental checks? And how should these be done? If anyone even suspects you of being a little out there in high school or college you should have all gun rights suspended? Ever been on adderal or Ritalin? All gun rights forever suspended? Or just until you are able to convince your doctor you are better again?

Couple of points here......1. I do NOT take meds,go to hospitals, make frequent visits to clinics/doctors.......I am 66 Years
young and my TOTALLY EXPERIENCE with the above is pro-active issues only.......mammo's paps, wellness exam. I do NOT
adhere to the "push" to get a colonscopy. The REASON???? Because much like the NRA/gun mfgs alliance that is present
the doctors/pharmco have the SAME relationship.......I believe it is insidious in it's nature.....So, I attempt to steer a clear
course AWAY from such manipulation.....JMO. (I believe it's called a "sheep mentality".)

The mental illness issue absolutely NEEDS to be addressed and it's urgency is paramount......the NRA COULD HAVE assisted
in that endeavor and put forth a proposed plan IN CONJUNCTION with their "good guy with a gun" concept.....THAT did
not happen......(from my POV,because there is a "void" of a monetary relationship.....what is the phrase? You grease my
hand and I will grease yours"...........JMO

A gun rights organization should be deciding public policy on access to guns and the mentally ill?

Sorry, I'm calling BS on this, homeagain. You wanted the financial onus on the NRA only until I mentioned the corporations. Then you wanted the burden on the NRA and the corporations. Neither are financially responsible for background checks. The entity requiring them is.

If we take your line of thought further, we should require auto manufacturers to fund driver's license fees. Oh, and the gasoline companies, also. And while we're at it, make them responsible to fund driver's education classes.

Sorry, but all of the above are responsible only for the products of their company - quality, affordability, government regulation, etc. But they are not responsible to fund items beyond that.

Good point. Is Chevy responsible for the inexperienced driver who buys a Corvette and runs over someone? Should they have to fund driving school?

THEN......."The good guy with a gun" is questionable at best (using your logic).......the NRA has opted to "grease" their
partners hands in lieu of any MEANINGFUL action.....JMO

The parallel here is similar to the NFL's ponying up (unsure of amount, would have to check) MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for
research into brain injury/brain trauma......that sum of money WILL create a better understanding of the issue and should
lead to a better process moving forward......it is the SAME WITH THE NRA........JMO, Let me VERY clear, I am NO fan of
the corporate NFL organization but AT LEAST THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE in a real and meaningful
way (chunks of money can do that).......JMO
