The police officer I talked to says you can take the 5th but automatically lose your job. IIRC Lois is just on leave.

If you are in the military or a police/firefighter if you hinder an investigation to protect yourself, you will lose your job.
Since it looks like Lois is already retired, I guess she wouldn't be held to this. I read it doesn't really matter since people under her have already thrown Lerner under the bus.

You have lost me on this one.
Who has thrown her under the bus and how is that relevant. The propose of these investigations is to follow evidence up the food chain. Remember what did he know and when did he know it?

As far as being retired, I am pretty sure it if it came up that I had committed a high crime I could be recalled to active duty, court martialed and shot.
