Do the right thing with a nation that gasses their citizens? Send them a sternly worded letter? More economic sanctions?

Send the citizens of Syria our old chemical weapons protective gear? Send Al Quaida in Syria some of our leftover chemical weapons to put them on an equal footing?

Syria? Sorry... This smacks too much of the "cooked intelligence" that Bush used to start a war in Iraq. While the deaths from possible chemical warfare were horrific, to be sure, why does that deserve a unilateral attack from the U.S. when we did NOTHING about the hundreds-of-thousands killed by Assad through conventional means? Assad has NOT attacked the US, at least overtly, and unless someone convinces me that some sort of missile-strike or NON-boots-on-the-ground attack will do more good than harm, I urge my President--(whom I SUPPORT)--NOT to do it.

I'll leave the war-mongering to the usual bag of neo-cons and war-starters... The military industrial complex never met a war it didn't like, and the stock-prices for the defense companies that make the bombs and the hardware are seeing big gains in the last few days. They're drooling, just thinking about it.

I think LJ is going to have an actual, real mental breakdown over this. Obama has painted himself into such a corner that even LJ couldn't rescue him.

Now, how did Putin set up Cakes......we all saw it.....the August 21 gassing was not needed except to call out Cakes......Cakes stupidly bit the bait.....Americans are fools not to easily see the game....fun to watch. Kerry is trying to put forward the case today that we need to attack Assad. So far the Twitter world thinks Colin Powell was more convincing.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi pressed top administration officials Thursday night to take military action to punish Syrian President Bashar Assad in response to reports that he used chemical weapons in his nation’s ongoing civil war.

“It is clear that the American people are weary of war. However, Assad gassing his own people is an issue of our national security, regional stability and global security,” Pelosi said in a statement after the 90-minute conference call with members of the National Security Council and 26 high-ranking lawmakers.

The White House organized the conference call — which was unclassified because of a lack of secure phone lines — at a time when congressional demands for more information on both the intelligence regarding the alleged chemical weapons attack and President Barack Obama’s plans for a military response are growing.

How will bombing Syria punish Assad? We'll be blowing up innocent people, to what end? To make a statement? "There ya go, Bashar. We just blasted 100,000 of your folks to smithereens. Now stop gassing them or we'll do it again."

The French finally support the US in war now that we have a Sec'y of State who looks French like Kerry. (and speaks French.)
