1. Will the actual costs of care come down considering the medical device tax and nothing has been done to address tort reform (or will less people sue doctors now?)
2. Will more doctors start covering less patients or will it be the other way around?
3. Will more people start being responsible for their oown health or will more feel like they have a magic medical safety net?
4.Will your Oprah senario get better or worse... and why?
Contrary to the broad brushers around here, I don't think the ACA is a bad idea because it came from the left or Obama, I think it's bad because it was poorly thought out. This government has been doing studies of the Keystone pipeline for many years to ensure the are no bad "unintended consequences", but for a much more important and massive issue that will affect every American, the ACA was built in about 18 months and four years later there are still more unknowns than the first moon landing. But I really do hope I'm wrong and will be willing to eat my own words if this actually works. But if it doesn't work, I guarantee nobody on the left wil accept an ounce of blame... the blame will be aimed at those on the right who opposed it.

Why did it not work for Walter? It did work for Walter in that he did not qualify for any tax credits due to the low income. It appears that the separate state Medicare website did not have the updated information but that is an entirely different issue.FredHayek wrote:

Not exactly, but you infer wierd assumptions from other peoples' post often.
But back on topic, the author Guy P. Benson reports that Colorado exchanges, once thought to be a model for the nation, are clearly not ready for the ACA and it looks like from Walter's example that it is very true. (Article on http://www.hotair.com )
But that is par for the course with the Left, deliver less than promised and deliver it later. "But we had good intentions, sorry we weren't ready when ACA was passed years ago."

I have never called anyone on this forum an idiot. I have called several particular posts to be "idiotic" simply because they are. If you want to post vitrol based rants with no factual underpinnings containing false information, then those posts are idiotic.Rick wrote:

The actual cost of care may not come down but the intent is to keep it from rising at the astronomical rates that it has previously. ACA will most certainly do that, since the single major factor on the rise in health care cost is the lack of ability to pay medical bills by lower income individuals resulting in bankrupticy for the individual and pass along of their medical bills to others. With this eliminated, medical costs will reflect the true cost of the actual protocols, without the inclusion of the additional costs of the free riders.Rick wrote:

The ACA does not create more patients, it just ensures that the medical provider will be paid. So it will be more lucrative for doctors to practice, thus more individuals will enter the field. Further, the ACA provides incentives, such as forgiving student loans, for doctors to practice in rural and underserved markets.2. Will more doctors start covering less patients or will it be the other way around?
The plans offered under the health exchanges under the ACA require that individuals be responsible for the copays, deductibles and coinsurance, thus they have skin in the game to ensure that they will be personally responsible. No one gets a "magic medical safety net", only affordable health insurance.3. Will more people start being responsible for their oown health or will more feel like they have a magic medical safety net?
The ACA was not built in 18 months. It was first proposed 20 years ago by the conservative Heritage Foundation, implemented in Massachusetts seven years ago which created a "laboratory" to see if it works. It worked very well.4.Will your Oprah senario get better or worse... and why?
