Not enough info in your anecdotal example......are you comparing plans with comparable coverage....did premiums stay the same? Is that the only plan available? Is the plan offered from the federal exchange?

EVEN WITH THE LARGE CORPORATION EXEMPTION THIS YEAR MY HEALTHCARE PREMIUMS HAVE EXPLODED, I'M NOT GOING TO OPT OUT AND LET BARRY AND THE IRS RULE OVER MY HEALTHCARE! I HAVE THAT OPTION AND I CAN AFFORD IT BUT THAT'S NOT WHERE I WANT TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY.

How about people like one of my co-workers who has stage 4 colon cancer, single mother with two kids? How is she supposed to deal with this crap when 50% of her income will be wrapped up in co-pays and deductibles?

She should probably just bail out of the corporate healthcare plan and adopt the "BRONZE" Barrycare plan then sit around and wait to die while her kids look on while she waits for the half-assed healthcare plan she can afford to take care of her when they get around to it?!

If you don't find that real life scenario distressing then you have no respect for human life or caring for people with serious medical problems. The blood is on your hands, you and the rest of the collective "we" voted for it.

Maybe your employer should stop being such a cheapskate and buy a better policy for his employees with better coverages? Perhaps your co-worker should, in fact, check out the exchanges and see if she can get better coverage for less co-pays by going outside? Since we know she CAN'T BE DENIED FOR HER PRE-EXISTING CONDITION, or DROPPED FOR HITTING A LIFETIME MAXIMUM, she very well might do better.
