WELL THEY DID IT AGAIN!!!!! A HURRY UP REPAIR JOB TO AN ADJACENT ROAD IS NOW FLOODING SEVERAL OF MY NEIGHBORS PROPERTY. THEY TOLD ME THEY ACTUALLY TALKED TO THE SUPERVISOR OF R&B AND WERE KINDA BLOWN OFF AND TOLD IT WAS THERE PROBLEM!!! I CAN'T SEE WHERE RESIDENTS IMPROVE THEIR DRIVEWAYS ONLY TO HAVE THE COUNTY BASICALLY RUIN IT IN LESS THAN A WEEK.... SEEMS LIKE THE SUPER IS PAID BY THE TAXPAYERS HE IS BLOWING OFF, WHY DOES'NT HE WORK WITH RESIDENTS TO ALEVIATE THE PROBLEMS. I SURE THESE HOMEOWNERS ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES DIS-SATISFIED..... DO IT RIGHT OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL

sorry to hear that and understand. that is pretty much why we never call to have them fix the public tertiary road. because they haven't put in the proper culverts it will all just flow down and wreck the lower driveways.

i have seen a couple people fix their problem with the county by bringing in dirt and making large mounds on the public right of way around their property where there is a problem. don't know that it would work for you or that you would want to do that. getting things done right is just plain futile - unfortunately.

I'd be 'red hot' about that, too. Any way you can photograph the piece of roadway and post it here? This is exactly what we were talking about earlier. A few good snapshots are worth hundreds of words of explanation/excuse/denial from R & B.

They are called "berms." We did that and the county came out and squashed half of it. The kids at the bus stop will take care of the rest. The road across from our property washes rain onto our land and has carved a nice, narrow canyon that comes down and is trying to erode our foundation.

I don't believe a culvert will do any good there. I wish R&B would get their act together and guide homeowners on this.

I see a neighbor whose culvert is massively filled with dirt after every rain. He has to get out there and dig, dig, dig. I think we can also thank PC for allowing roads like that without regard for runoff.

my neighbor spent several thousand dollars on his driveway to avoid the runoff, then R&B made "improvements" to the road that caused this problem. then thier i dont care attitude just adds to problem. I did see my neighbors taking pictures and trying to stop the flood, i really empathise with them.

Its Futile?, Wish someone would fix roads/culverts?.

State statutes say (1)county must maintain a budget for R&B.
(2) Public dedicated(thats 99% of Pk county subdivisions)
roads must be safe without inconvienent travel. Like
erosion, plugged culverts causing runoff to go from side to
side on road. NO ditches which cause road base destruction.
No standing water. Culverts that run accross a road is
to be maintained by the town/city/counties.

Without care the roads have become out of balance. Like
water that should flow south-now flows north or forms
a large mosquito pond on the road.

ALL(99.999999%) of counties in Colorado and nearby states
(all 48) maintain the roads with home tax money!!!!! except
Park county. "We have other projects"(BOCC since 2004)

SO HOW DO YOU STOP IT. Complain to? deaf ears.
Plead, Bag, Turn the other cheek, bend over ??? OR?????
Many nationwide counties use petition to recall as there swift
way to "kickem' to the curb". PK county taxpayers in 1990's
did just that-just like that.

Welcome to rural mountain living.

I don't know about anyone else butt when I moved here no one promised me
graded roads or proper drainage, thus
I do what I can to help myself and not rely on the county to bail me out.

Certainly has merit! Government bailouts, what a concept that has found this country in trouble.

One of the points being made here is that homeowners fix the problem, spending a lot of money, only to see PC R&B come along and ruin the repairs the homeowners have made.

Also, when R&B "fixes" something, they sometimes "break" something else, without looking at the big picture. And they don't reimburse the homeowners.

so, the homeowners are damned if they do fix it, because it ends up being an equal or worse mess once R&B comes through.
