Pope Francis 'Evangelii Gaudium' Calls For Renewal Of Roman Catholic Church, Attacks 'Idolatry Of Money'

Pope Francis called for renewal of the Roman Catholic Church and attacked unfettered capitalism as "a new tyranny", urging global leaders to fight poverty and growing inequality in the first major work he has authored alone as pontiff.

The 84-page document, known as an apostolic exhortation, amounted to an official platform for his papacy, building on views he has aired in sermons and remarks since he became the first non-European pontiff in 1,300 years in March.

In it, Francis went further than previous comments criticizing the global economic system, attacking the "idolatry of money" and beseeching politicians to guarantee all citizens "dignified work, education and healthcare".

Wow... So, the Pope takes Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, and all the rest of the "trickle-down", "supply-side" Randroids and rips them a new one.

I'm beginning to like this guy. And the rest of the "takers vs. makers" knuckle-draggers can stuff it...

Too bad Half-Governor Moosemeat is more interested in the phony FauxNews "War on Christmas" than she is the greedy retail establishment's "War on Thanksgiving", and depriving people of food stamps and unemployment benefits right when they're needed most.

Yep...I was right... Anthrax and certain kinds of pond-mold ARE "higher life forms"....

You're in rare form today. What's the matter? Don't have any family, friends or lovers to spend Thanksgiving with again? A song for you.

How about that Pope.....!

Gotta love it.

That must be obvious to him since he heads the richest religious organization in the world. I haven't seen anything trickling down from the Vatican. The Catholic Church could wipe out poverty on a small continent just by writing a check.

And who in the world would take financial advice from a religious leader anyway? He's also against abortion. I don't notice you rallying behind him on that subject.

Your hypocrisy panties are showing again.

Very funny Walter! :rofllol

Seems the Pope added an 11th Commandment...“Today we also have to say ‘thou shalt not’ to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.” Reminds me of our current POTUS...you know, making things up as he goes along.

Maybe the Pope should think about leading by example. It will be a cold day when we see him giving the billions they have or selling off all of its gold, silver, rubies, emeralds, etc. to give to the poor.

But just like progressives, they are all talk. They want to spread YOUR wealth and MINE but hey, hey, hey, hands out of the cookie jar when it comes to their riches.

Back to the 11th Commandment...I think I'll stick with Original 10.

Pope Francis said that Paul Ryan and John Boehner are liars? You got a source for that quote?

Mis translated by a press trying to put words in the Pope's mouth.

This Pope is just trying to be the most popular Pope... kinda like Obama. He wails about the evils of capitalism, yet what would his church be without it? It sure as hell didn't get fat on socialism or communism.

Poor LJ, still looking for scraps of "outrage". Too bad these irrelevant anecdotal stories aren't big enough to distract us from watching the Dems bury themselves. Tic Tock...
