Pointing out the symptom is necessary to identify the cause and treat/excise it. I'm all for voting out every corporate-bought rep and replacing 'em all with the Green Party! Maybe a few libertarians too, they're a good balance.BlazerBob wrote: Once again you attack the symptom and not the cause. Fix the government and you will not have to be concerned about evil oil companies, evil pharmaceutical companies, evil seed companies,...........
BTW, did they say no significant impact or no significant impact over and above current methods?

Current methods have significant impact, you just don't hear about it in the mainstream corporate media. Have you heard anything recently about the Gulf Oil Spill? No? Shocker. They haven't improved any methods to stop pipeline or tanker leaks, or avoid the damage to the land from their extraction methods so any attempt to claim "no significant impact" is a lie. The biggest elephant in the room is that if the tar sands are opened at all, it's game over. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/10/opini ... .html?_r=0 We should be leaning on the Canadians to shut them down, not finding a way to help them export it.

Former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says he believes the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada should be built.
Salazar said at an energy conference in Houston Wednesday that the pipeline could be built safely, as long as conditions are imposed. Those conditions would require the pipeline operator to meet tough environmental standards and even pay for conservation programs along the pipeline route.
Salazar told The Associated Press that the pipeline could be a “win-win” project that benefits U.S. energy security while boosting conservation efforts in Montana, South Dakota and other affected states.

On a recent conference call with reporters, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka endorsed two initiatives reviled by green groups: the Keystone XL pipeline and new natural gas export terminals.

Labor leaders have long backed the pipeline, arguing it would create thousands of construction jobs and boost the economy. But many of them have been muted in their criticism of President Obama, for fear of opening a rift with the White House over the controversial project.
That seemed to change on Tuesday, as the presidents of building trade unions linked the delay of Keystone to broader anger at the administration within the labor movement.
“Our anger doesn’t just stop with Keystone XL,” Terry O’Sullivan, president of the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) told The Hill. “We are extremely angry about the Affordable Care Act and the fact that there is 12.8 percent unemployment in construction.”
“Are [lawmakers] really for jobs and the middle class?” O’Sullivan said. “This whole thing reeks of politics.”
