The New "More Moral" Boy Scouts...

Isn't it cute... The new Hitler Youth, er....Boy Scouts, er..."Trail Lifers" show their new salute while singing Taps... (For some reason the new arrangement sounds amazingly like "Deutschland, Deutschland Uber Alles.")

One problem: A still photograph doesn’t capture the movement. “The photographer caught the boys right at the exact angle where their hands were moving down and it just looks bad,” says Stemberger.

Bad enough that Trail Life has been snowed under with e-mails and a pair of threats that Stemberger, who’s based in Florida, has deemed scary enough that he’s going to report them to local and federal authorities. “Both talk about mass murders,” says Stemberger.

When asked just how he links the reaction to the photo itself, Stemberger responds that he has done more than 400 interviews about the recently launched Trail Life USA. “We’ve never had this kind of reaction, never had this vitriolic, vile reaction,” says Stemberger.

Yeah, that's it...Must just have been a "bad angle".... But the armbands and "Sam Brown" belts will be issued next week.... god knows we wouldn't the public to think that we might allow "the wrong sort" into their midst....

Just a few minutes ago, the AP responded: “The story would have been better served without this particular photo, which was too easily misread. It will be removed from our archives.”

Rev, I guess we all need to have hobbies. Personally I cannot think of anything more beneficial to the sane elements of America than a respected icon of the progressive left like LJ equating the boy scouts with hitler youth. Can you? I guess she could call for genocide to clean up the gene pool but not even progressives will say that in public. Right?

If that was all there was to the salute. And it's not a salute, it's hand motions during a song, and the arms do not ever stay upright in that "heil" position.

It would be no different that photographing a person using sign language and grabbing the shot at the point where the arm was outstretched.

But you already knew that if you read the WHOLE story. Which I think you did, which makes you a liar. So... what's new.

This is not unlike some of the pictures taken of Obama and used by conservatives to characterize him as arrogant, unpatriotic, etc. Nice to see some of you say that it is unfair to use a still photo in this manner. Will we see that concern extend to pictures of Obama, or Hillary in the future?

I used to be a big fan of the boy scouts, my son went all the way through to Eagle, but he and I both are deeply disappointed in the political stands the scouts have taken and in their exclusiveness rather than inclusiveness. My grandson is involved in a local boy scout program, not affiliated with the BSA, where neither the scouts nor their leaders are discriminated against.

I saw recently where the Disney Corporation has pulled its support for the BSA over the current discrimination issues.

I stopped donating to any organizations that support the BSA or the Salvation Army years ago due to their discriminatory policies....
