At last an accomplishment to run on . R's can support them because they hate kids and want them to starve and d's can support them because they hate obese kids and want them to eat less and lose weight. Win Win.

"New school lunch standards implemented as a result of First Lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign have led to more than 1 million children leaving the lunch line, according to a new report.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a wide-ranging audit of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act nutrition standards last week, finding 48 out of 50 states faced challenges complying with Mrs. Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.

The new standards led to kids throwing out their fruits and vegetables, student boycotts, higher lunch costs, and odd food pairings such as “cheese stick with shrimp” in order for schools to comply with the complicated rules.

The National School Lunch Program saw a sharp decline in participation once the healthy standards went into effect during the 2012-2013 school year. A total of 1,086,000 students stopped buying school lunch, after participation had increased steadily for nearly a decade.

The report found that 321 districts left the National School Lunch Program altogether, many of which cited the new standards as a factor."...

Yes, thanks to the R's irresponsible cutting of unemployment benefits, and TANF programs, and food-stamps, many families can no longer afford the measly amount of money it takes to buy the lunches.

Congratulations, 'Baggers.

lol Aren't they in for a rude awakening. Fruits and veggies will continue to go in the trash or be ignored.

“Although school lunch participation has declined, it is likely that participation will improve over time as students adjust to the lunch changes,” they said.

Is unfortunate that the attempts to improve the health of our children and the nutrition of the food they eat is met with such resistance. I wish school lunches had been healthier when my kids were in school, I packed them a lunch every day because what the school offered was pretty much junk food,

Perhaps if they learned good eating habits at home the fruits and veggies wouldn't be going in the trash?

That could work if kids ate at home but now it takes a village. Creches are the next step, parents cannot be trusted with their kids.

All of which goes to prove that there is such a thing as a free lunch, well, actually a lunch that others pay for instead of the person primarily responsible for paying for it. A better policy would be to revoke the licenses of parents who fail to pay the bill to feed their child like they do in other instances where deadbeat parents fail to pay monies that are due which support their children.

Did anyone notice that the article BB quoted is about Mrs. Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act. Did anyone notice also notice that not one of the articles Lady Jazzer linked to was about the problems with Mrs. Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act?

Did anyone notice the PROBLEMS with Mrs. Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act?

1) kids throwing out their fruits and vegetables
2) student boycotts,
3) higher lunch costs,
4) odd food pairings such as “cheese stick with shrimp”
5) complicated rules.

Lady Jazzer plays all you folks like a fiddle and manages to totally deflect from the ACTUAL topic of the thread, which is (do I have to remind anyone again)... Mrs. Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act WHICH IS NOT WORKING. And you took the bait.

LJ is the master of deflection... she has nothing else but the copied rants of MSNBC, Media Matters, and the flaming liberal "Crooks and Liars". I think I'd drop dead if I ever saw her stay on a topic and debate her points using common sense and logic.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Sounds like a win win. Reduced usage, savings for taxpayers. Teach the kiddos at a young age that the Federal government is dictating their menu of mandated ickky food and small portions. They need a smiling pic of Michelle and Barrack at the beginning of the lunch line, and Federal Food Cops stationed at the Trash cans. :rofllol

Uh, I noticed that Michelle Obama is not an elected representative, and not even a Federal Employee. So Priviate citizens can enact rules and mandates over the entire country too? Cool!
