Based on the part you quoted It seems to me that your position is that the twin towers was a "one off", and that Afghanistan and Iran were over reactions and mistakes which gives a rational for muslim fanatics to attack us. Is that what you think?

I am enjoying our conversation because you do not post as an angry, condescending or arrogant liberal. I hope I am not coming across as an angry, condescending or arrogant libertarian. Archer accused me of being condescending, I guess we all have room to improve. ( I think she is delusional,( but I have been wrong before)

At any rate I am drinking beer and hope this is not total ramble and babble.

What are we taking about?

I posted this because it came from a conservative, and the posit this conservative made appears to support the collateral damage concept I put out there to begin with. I would never, repeat never, diminish the tragic importance of what happened on 9/11, nor would I ever conflate the wars in either Afghanistan and, I think you meant, Iraq with anything even remotely close to sanctioning radical Muslims and/or their actions. All that being said, I also have a problem with being lied into war, if that is, in fact, true, by the powers that be using the tragedy of 9/11 as a catalyst vis a vis the threat of terrorism. According to the article, that specific threat is minimal to the U.S. (not so to those living under the rule of monarchs as is the case in Saudi Arabia). My take away is we need to realistically look at what we're doing, and consider both the intended and the unintended consequences of those actions we take, and perhaps just get the hell out.

No, I don't find you condescending. I could say that about someone else I've interacted with, but will keep that to myself.

Have a beer/wine/bourbon/whatever for me, too. :P

Oh, and just so we're clear, BB, your concern goes both ways (condescension). I must honestly say my tone hasn't always been this way. My epiphany came when I started going back and re-reading some of my posts and thought they really sucked because of the tone. So, I work very hard to not come across as that Troll any longer. If I ever go back to that person, I'd hope I recognize myself in the mirror and STOP!

CWIS is one of those systems that makes it easier to sleep when the bad guys are near by. I guess in summary you have to ask yourself if you want the bad guys to be dead or if you're willing to suffer some casualties and deaths of the folks on your side. I'd rather kill the bad guys and preserve my own force; the after effects of DP rounds isn't my main concern in the moment. If the long term effects are bad for the folks we didn't intend to hurt then that's a strategic problem not a tactical one.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
