If this was just a guideline or a reccomendation to Congress, it means absolutely nothing and there was no good reason to address the nation in a prime time address.
On that, we definitely agree. I've been discussing the issue of executive actions vs executive orders in another thread, and I also believe Obama has not been transparent in his use of executive actions. By the same token, I also believe Congress has been more than disingenuous in their blanket statements regarding presidential overreach and likening Obama to an emperor and other similar descriptors. There's plenty of "blame" if one wants to call it that, to go around Washington, D.C. multiple times as far as I'm concerned. If you're interested, here's the same link I provided in the other thread on executive actions:
There again, this document appears to offer conflicting perspectives on this. In the very first paragraph, the word "guidance" is used. It then follows talking about "prosecutorial discretion".
This is a rhetorical question not to be construed as being directed at you or anyone else, but how does the administration, or anyone else, for that matter, reconcile these discrepancies? This is the kind of thing that really gets my shorts in a knot because it does, in fact, only serve to further divide us.
Heard what I see as a good analogy the other day. Obama bottoms his actions on the basis of everyone understanding that we are never going to catch 11 million illegal aliens, so his response is to use the discretion of his office to not prosecute them. That is a lot like saying that since we are never going to catch all the tax evaders the IRS should spend no time pursuing them or prosecuting them. Tell me, what will be the inevitable result of failing to pursue and prosecute the tax evaders that are caught? Will such a policy result in a fewer or greater number of tax evaders?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Sort of like when Emperor Obama came to get all your guns after he signed 23 executive actions following the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School coming up on 2 years ago.........oh, wait.......
If President Obama really cared about illegal immigrants, why didn't he help draft a bill with Congress when Nancy Pelosi was in charge? What has changed in four years that it is a crisis that needs an executive order right now, less than a week after suffering a major loss in a midterm election?
I think this is the action of an immature man.

I do believe the Senate passed a bi-partisan immigration reform bill the President said he would sign if the House were to get off their collective arses and bring it to the floor for a vote. That, from what I've heard, took place over a year ago.
Bi-partisan? A couple kooky Senate RINO's from New England jumped on board the bill which was be un-palatable to the actual border states that would be affected by the legislation.
