Colorado right-to-die legislation announced

Happy to see that the bill was terminated instead of human lives, and it died a bi-partisan death, which is even better news. The only negative here is that the sponsor of the bill won't let it RIP and intends to introduce it again in 2016 . . .

PERHAPS, in 2016 the populace with be ENLIGHTEN AND EVOLVED ENOUGH to really understand
the condition/impact of dying with dignity...PERHAPS,the controversy of climate change will be the same
Giai is struggling and can NOT maintain, just as the HUMAN body is fragile and sometimes can NOT
maintain.

And it is my hope that in the not too distant future the human species will become enlightened and have evolved to the point that they recognize that dignity has everything to do with the character exhibited by the person while alive and absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a physician commits an act of homicide for their benefit.

I think you are underestimating our planet, it has survived much worse than seven billion humans.

And the fact remains that, from the perspective of the government, it is better (because it is less expensive) to promote the idea that society will think better of you if you have a physician commit an act of homicide for your benefit rather than risk the same fate that humans have been facing for perhaps as long as 200,000 years now. We entered this world helpless and dependent on others for our care and the chances are pretty good the circle of life will return us to that state before we exit it. That's simply the way nature works.

AH,you omit one factor, the bolded.....MODERN medicine/procedures/and hi tek apparatus are NOW
creating an artificial life...for those that are TRYING TO DIE...200,000 years ago or later
humans did NOT have those interferences. They found ways to ALLOW the process to be completed.

Natural herbs/tonics/"floating away on an ice floe" dying of hypothermia were alternatives.

Your sanctimonious stance does NOTHING to address this.

Swallowing pills requires no courage. There is no dignity in swallowing a bunch of pills to end your life, only cowardice evidenced by your inability to face your own mortality. That's harsh, I know, but it is also the truth. Thus the proposed legislation can't give you dignity with your passing, it can only confirm that your character is weak. Legislation can't endow you in death with what you lacked in life.

ACTUALLY, the "easy" death would be from exposure....(hypothermia). The Native Eskimo in the far, far North had a "rite" of releasing their elders onto an ice floe and allowing them to float adrift...to the great beyond.

Interesting that you have NOT commented on the ICU link and the atrocities that are described.
