"The GOP just announced that there is no 2020 platform this year other than to reassert “the Party’s strong support for President Donald Trump and his Administration.”

Party platforms are dinosaurs, just like political convention. You know what you are going to get with President Trump by now, a mix of populism, nationalism, and conservative agendas.

But Fred, what does this tell you? There is no longer a Republican party. There is only the Trump party. They've given in to Trump and will do whatever he says.

So much for a optimistic and upbeat message.

Speaking from Charlotte moments after he was formally renominated as the Republican Party standard-bearer, Trump delivered a screed that predicted a legally contested election in November and complained that Democrats were exploiting the coronavirus pandemic -- still raging in the United States -- to undermine his re-election.

"What they're doing is using Covid to steal an election. They're using Covid to defraud the American people, all of our people, of a fair and free election," Trump said, without evidence, to applause from GOP delegates, who were gathering in North Carolina to conduct the formal business of the party convention.

It was hardly the optimistic message that Trump's advisers have been relentlessly previewing ahead of this week's renomination festivities. Instead, Trump's speech was indistinguishable from the meandering, grievance-filled appearances he has been making in the lead-up to his scaled-down convention.

Way to show the diversity of the nation, Trump Party!

While the DNC roll call showcased the diversity of America and made a point of featuring Indigenous people, Black and Hispanic Americans, activists, and LGBTQ people, the RNC roll call was a procession dominated by older white men, all in front of a white background emblazoned with #RNC2020.

And I thought that Koobookie was incapable of saracasm.

Joe Biden, who?

I know, right? It should have been "...older white men, all in front of a white background emblazoned with #TNC2020." (Trump National Convention 2020)

He's gotten more done in the last 4 years than the Republican swamp creatures could have gotten done so I'm fine with it being the Trump party. Maybe future Republicans will learn to grow some balls and stand up to the worthless leftist media.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Maybe. The predictions have him losing in November, he would be too old to run in 2024 and even then, Republicans try to cast off losers. McCain didn't get the nomination a second time, nor Romney. I think some of his platform will stay on with the Republican Party. Americans continue to want strong borders, but I could see the next generation of Republican leaders push for more fiscal sanity and more hawkish than Trump has been in his term.
