Scientists Leaving Us in the Dark

How long ago had she gotten her vaccinations? I was planning on waiting to get mine up until last week when I saw the latest data on vaccine effectiveness over time and the rising case counts.

As I shared in the Endemic=ALWAYS a part of our lives topic:

We report SARS-CoV-2 vaccine effectiveness against infection (VE-I) and death (VE-D) by vaccine type (n = 780,225) in the Veterans Health Administration, covering 2.7% of the U.S. population. From February to October 2021, VE-I declined from 87.9% to 48.1%, and the decline was greatest for the Janssen vaccine resulting in a VE-I of 13.1%.

If she got the J&J vaccine more than 6 months ago, then her protection level was at 13% and she needed a booster to get that back up to an effective level. That's why health officials are urging everyone who is eligible to get their 2nd (J&J) or third (Pfizer & Moderna) dose if it's been 6 months since your last one and why Polis opened it up to everyone who wanted one.

The longer everyone waits to get their boosters, the longer this will keep circulating, especially now that it's cold and everyone's spending more time indoors.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

She got her Phizer doses in April. So she should have got a booster in October like we did.
She hasn't been able to walk in months, so I think she is one of those who is at high risk of dying from her other health issues.
It is really sad that the lockdowns and quarantines kept her home and not moving around last year.
