No true Scotsman or appeal to purity is an informal fallacy in which one attempts to protect an a posteriori claim from a falsifying counterexample by covertly modifying the initial claim. Rather than admitting error or providing evidence that would disqualify the falsifying counterexample, the claim is modified into an a priori claim in order to definitionally exclude the undesirable counterexample. The modification is signalled by the use of non-substantive rhetoric such as "true", "pure", "genuine", "authentic", "real", etc.
Put more simply:
No true Scotsman arguments arise when someone is trying to defend their ingroup from criticism (ingroup bias) by excluding those members who don't agree with the ingroup. In other words, instead of accepting that some members may think or act in disagreeable ways, one dismisses those members as fakes.
Mitch McConnell actually did all the heavy lifting in getting those conservative Supreme Court Justices onto the courts, but they will be Trump's greatest legacy long after he is gone.
The Roe overturn is actually helping Democrats. Abortion advocates are rallying in Deep Red States to regain abortion rights. Kansas got it passed. It will be on the ballot in Arizona and Missouri this November. Will definitely affect turnout in the battleground state of Arizona.
Trump himself supported abortion rights as a private citizen.

McConnell blocked Obama's pick, even though it was almost a year before the 2016 election when Scalia died. Then he ramrodded Barrett through the Senate just a few weeks before the 2020 election. Early voting had already started in many states, yet McConnell and other conservatives said in 2016 "Let the voters decide."
Conservatives sure flip flopped from one situation to the other. Now we have to live with this highly partisan and unethical court for decades.
What you call cheating or hypocrisy, I call being a master politician. I think the Democrats would have got much more of their agenda passed if they had dumped both Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden earlier. McConnell always ran rings around Biden and Schumer. Pelosi? She has political skills.
Luckily for Republicans, Kamala Harris doesn't.

And Democrats are eagerly willing to nominate senile old white guys like Biden because the party didn't give them any choice because they wouldn't let anyone else run against Joe.
Your party is closer to the Soviet model than you think. Senator Bernie Sanders is claiming this week that in 2016 and 2020 they party cooked the books to make sure he wasn't the nominee.

Unfortunately. DeSantis was a much better choice but charisma counts for more with many Republican voters.
Usually Republican voters are much more dismissive of politicians that lose national races. Mitt Romney never got to run again, nor McCain.

Did any of you yesterday watch Trump's hour long rambling speech prior to taking questions? Did any of you see him taking questions and then not answer them in the hour "press conference" after his ramble?

Didn't watch it. Tired of Trump after eight years. Tired of Biden after 50 years. Tired of Kamala after five years.
