A huge boost for Republicans this election!

Democrats abandoned plans to vote before Election Day on extending Bush-era tax cuts for the middle class while eliminating them for better-off Americans, spooked by protests from vulnerable incumbents and bleak prospects for passage.

"This delay is irresponsible and reckless. It's no wonder the American people are fed up with the leadership of Congress. Every family in America faces a major tax increase next year because the Senate majority leader has failed to take action to prevent it," said GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

The delay could upend the financial planning of millions of Americans. "You're going to have families sitting there thinking about the tax consequences in end-of-life situations," said Alan Rothschild, chairman of the American Bar Association's section on estate law. "That's a horrible situation." The estate tax, which lapsed in January, will return next year at rates up to 55% unless Congress acts.

The Centrist Democrats, at least 34 of them wanted to extend tax cuts for everyone including the top 2% in this recession. Reid and Pelosi couldn't get thier people to agree on this vote so now we all will be wondering what our taxes will be next year. Way to go Democratic leadership. This will be great advertising for Angle in Neveda. I think we just gained about 10 more house and a couple more Senate seats. :woo hoo: :woo hoo:

would have been so simple if the republicans would just stop thinking about themselves and their wealthy cohorts and agree to vote to extend the cuts for the middle class.....I seriously doubt this country will sink into the abyss if the wealthy have to pay more taxes on the money they make over $250,000. Once again, Republicans show their true stripes......the middle class gets screwed because republicans owe too much to the wealthy and the corps who have paid them off. Sad, sad commentary on a political party that cares little for average Americans. It really sickens me that conservativs don't care if the little guys is suffering. Quite frankly this country cannot afford to keep the tax breaks for the wealthy, but that matters not to you conservatives, it's quite ok to raise the deficit when it's your friends you want to spend money on.....but not if it is the middle class. Clueless, you are all clueless.

With the majority in the house and senate and the Dems can't get anything done, yet we're all clueless. Keep showing your true colors lefties.

The silent majority will be silent no more.

:agree:

just watched a piece on an economics prof who whined on his blog that people who made over $250,000 were not rich. That they have the same problems as the rest of us.

A majority does not get things done, even if republicans get a majority in both the house and the senate they will be just as hamstrung as the democrats have been. There is no cooperation, reaching across the aisle.....it's all about winning for your party and dealing a blow to the opposition party. And the American people be damned. You conservatives started this with your "party of NO", now may you reap what you have sown.

As there post get angrier more bitter and more vulgar, they continue to marginalize themselves with the moderates. I say that with the serene confidence that they will never get it.

Here's a "socialist" country concept for you: where I come from the names and salaries of the "Sunshine Club" are posted in the newpapers on yearly basis.

(Sunshine Club being those who make over $250,000 yearly.)

Yes it is socialist. Only they are so pompous as to think they need to publish private information.

The silent majority will be silent no more.
