Idiot!

Sorry for calling you an idiot. You're a F***ING idiot! No further comment is necessary because you wouldn't comprehend.

Sounds like you do not have an informed response. To be blunt...you do not know. Your response is called "mob mentality".

Becky wrote: So true JF. I hear things from people all the time as they sit in the comfort of their living rooms and speak of things they can never comprehend.
You characterized the mentality pretty well.
I can assure you....once you have stood frozen in your home every time the phone rings or the doorbell rings....you know beyond no shadow of a doubt that this is no board game. It is very real and people die!
That fact always hits very close to home for us.

Quite an emotional appeal for support.
But it is a waste of pixels if you cannot reply with specific examples of how these documents endanger your son's life. It may be that your son is fighting in support of great wrongs.
Who knows without information and specific documentation?

We do not want to be sheoples.

1st question would be have you ever served in the military. By your responses I can only think the answer is no. They say they released over 400,00 classified docs. So since alot of the docs also deal with how we go about the business of doing our job, I did serve for 20 years.
Thus this gives the enemy our plans, our way of thinking, our way of doing our jobs. It also most likely has numbers on our forces, our supply routes, bases, possible defenses around these bases, maybe even flight plans etc. The disclosure of all these can be extremely harmful information to our Military and those of our allies. My son is presently serving, and the publishing of the docs can put the lives of our troops and even NATO as a whole in danger. But then if you pulled your head out or your rear end you would know that.

UNTIL YOU HAVE THOSE SLEEPNESS NIGHTS BECAUSE YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER THAT IS DEPLOYED OR YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THE SYSTEM TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER IS AFTER BEING MEDAVACED OUT OF COUNTRY DUE TO INJURIES AND YOU JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON(OF WHICH I DID GO THRU) OR EVERY TIME THE PHONE RINGS YOU JUMP THEN YOU CAN RUN YOUR MOUTH ABOUT WHAT THOSE DOCUMENTS WILL OR WILL NOT DUE. YOU HAVE NO DAMN CLUE. They were classified for a reason. There is a process in place to declassify documents.

Interesting reading, imagine that. A major news outlet reporting this, not going to happen, that would go against the upcoming elections.

I will tell you that this post has had a lot of backspacing going on.
I am going to try be civil here.
Emotional........That is an understatement.
I am devastated each and every day of my life.
Thomas Slocum was 22 years old. He didn't have a chance to raise a family. His mother will spend the rest of her life wondering about what might have been. His nephew will never know what a great uncle he had.
We won't ever get to see that Marine drive up in front of our house blasting Michael Jackson. He will NEVER get that chance to court our daughter that he asked for.
This is how he died.
http://nasiriyahdiary.com/
My son....he is a little luckier. (I think)
A young man who grew up in Bailey Colorado who's worst day was deciding to catch or release a trout he had pilfered from a neighbors pond would now see things with his eyes that none of us can imagine.
He has carried the lifeless body of a fellow Marine to an awaiting chopper while he dodged AK47 fire. He killed people. He is no longer my son who grew up in Bailey. His eyes are dark and sad as he carries secrets with him for a lifetime.
You and I aren't meant to know everything.
But our enemies can read the details of how we obtain information and intelligence.....rendering those tactics useless now. That puts our men and women at risk.
Emotional.....You bet I am emotional.
I lost 2 people in Iraq. First Tommy and then my own son.
I am no sheep Sir!.
I am quite capable of thinking for myself.
How dare you reduce this dialogue down to your piece of crap sheep photo.
Just curious majorbean.....What is your military background?
My father was a World War II veteran. He served as a medic in the European theater. He earned a Bronze Star for his effort.
My brother is a Viet Nam Veteran who served his country with honor and distinction.
My son did four years in the United States Marine Corp and now currently serves in the Texas National Guard.
He intends to make the military his career.
Information remains classified for a reason. When America's finest are no longer in danger.....then it is appropriate to declassify information but you do not do that when our children are serving in harms way.
Let me tell you what you can do with your sheep Sir!

(on second thought, what I am thinking right now shouldn't be posted)

I suspect we don't know yet just how dangerous this act was but one thing I do know....Wiki didn't do this because they were our friends.

More people than you know have walked in these shoes.
We have endured the panic attacks associated with seeing a strange car in our driveway.
To this day....I still bolt awake at 4:15 am. That was when my son would call from Iraq and I would know that we made it just one more day.
You are way to arrogant majorbean for your own good.
I will be waiting to hear all about your military career.

Interesting discussion.

I served but I'm also torn whether Wikileaks is right or wrong.

I don't agree with why our county went into Iraq.

If we have under reported 15K civilian deaths sham on us.

I understand the need to operational secrecy, but have our leaders created the need for a wiki leaks by lying to the public and being involved in a war we shouldn't be in?

As our digit world evolves, leaders of all countries are going to have a difficult decision about what they try to keep secret. It will be easier & easier to leaks to happen.

I remember the same arguments when the Pentagon Papers were leaked.

That's where we found out we illegally bombed Cambodia.

so i could probably safely say that i have more family in the military than most of you. and yeah i don't like those documents being leaked and yes it could endanger their lives. but my question is how the hell did they get these documents and what is being done to stop this from happening again?

So you'd just throw the First Amendment out the window?

So tell me, how the 1st Amendment comes into play here. The guy that released alot of docs to them (it has been proven), was in the military. No such thing as free speech in the military. The release of classified documents(which by the way is the property of the United States) without declassification process is considered an act of treason.

Read United States Code at 18 U.S.C. ยง 2381

Read The Espionage Act of 1917 was a United States federal law passed on June 15, 1917, shortly after the U.S. entry into World War I, during the First Red Scare.[1]

It prohibited any attempt to interfere with military operations, support America's enemies during wartime, to promote insubordination in the military, or interfere with military recruitment. In 1919, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled in Schenck v. United States that the act did not violate the free speech rights of those convicted under its provisions.

One of the most destructive espionage agents that destroyed our lead on Russia

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/culture/ar ... walker.htm

So tell me again about the 1st amendment rights under this. THERE ARE NONE. Just so there is no mistaken how I feel about this, Find all that released these documents, get a firing squad together and shoot them. They are traitors, they have endangered the United States and our Military. I have no sympathy. NONE
