What could have happened is that today, General Motors would be in the 15th month of its bankruptcy, no end in sight, with consumers shying away from its products and tens of thousands of automobile industry workers either laid off or despairing for their futures.
Instead we have an IPO that is the talk of Wall Street, loans being repaid with stock sale proceeds, an auto company that makes money at the bottom of a cycle and new products that are widely applauded.
So it's a simple call. The Tea Party and its predecessors, who eschewed federal loans to GM, simply got it wrong, failing to perceive that a "bailout" can just as easily be called an "investment."
What we have is not perfect, but it's far better than what might have been.
What the hell do you know about the auto industry, and domestic brands in particular Mr. Jazzer? You probably drive a Subaru or some other Japanese make.
The government intervention for GM was flat out wrong. Just ask the people at Ford Motor Company. GM's turnaround has more to do with relevant, high-quality product coming out of the pipeline--designed and planned long before the bailout--and sales to people who are too smart to buy into the 'foreign is better' BS that hasn't been accurate in nearly two decades.
you idiots put obama in office, how's that changy thingy working for you? Worked out well for us republicans this november..lets keep rolling on, and get the rest of the trash out in 2012..
Sure scruffy, your ok with cap and trade, bailing out failing businesses, illegals in az..that's whats the matter with you libs, you don't listen!
Liberals like their government to take care of them, they like to be told what, when and where to do everything.
They cannot think on their own as proven by ACORN, and they tend to rejoice at the thought of anyone failing in their attemps to be successful, and or make a better life for themselves.
As in their beliefs ALL AMericans should drink from the same cooler, and get their weekly rations from the Man.
They tend to live Way in the past as they have no Future sight and cannot dream beyond Fridays.
And true most drive Subarus, and think buying globaly is PC, and we should all hug every other country, and welcome them into ours and take care of them.
I could go on but they can only handle one or 2 paragraphs at most.
