Manna Pro,
Great! Consider it a rebate for the global warming of last winter. Now enjoy the $ 3.00 per gallon gasoline prices in 2011. The federal government wants to increase the gas excise tax too.
Ummm - so? Don't connect your rant with your bill. Seems damn reasonable to me, but then I remember Iowa electric bills and think anything under $100 is pretty damn nice.
RT - we won't be able to afford to go anywhere but the interwebs! New version of staycations?

If you are against IREA, you are a member of my team. They just took on Comanche 3 coal fired power plant, which will contribute to the brown cloud of Denver and the pollution of the clean air that we have in the foothills.
They have the distinction as being one of the most outdated utility companies who think that coal is the answer. They also have the distinction as being one of the last big utilities companies to ever invest in a coal fired power plant.
What part of the bill that you pay to IREA goes to energy conservation or renewable energy?

I don't do lots of things that I'd like to do because of IREA.
I would bet that more pollution is generated from wood fire places and commuting from Bailey, Pine, Conifer to Denver than the pollution generated by the coal fire plant.

I also hate giving those scumbags any of my money and I really look forward to stiffing them on my last bill when I move.
