This is my U.S. Senator, who will toe the party line, even at the expense of his constituents’ needs. He objects to a consent agreement which would allow emergency drilling on the outer continental shelf even when the price of gas reaches $10.00 per gallon. Salazar calls drilling a “phantom solution”. http://keepinitreal.wordpress.com/category/ken-salazar/

The simple truth is that the president's environmental strategy is to drive gas prices to $10 a gallon, thereby forcing a shift to more costly alternative fuels and untested electric vehicles. Once the environmental left has its way, relatively few Americans will be driving around in souped-up golfcarts fueled by solar and wind power costing five times the price of coal-powered electricity, with the rest carless. The country will indeed be energy-independent, but at the cost of immobility and bankruptcy.

So the left in general is not in favor of higher energy prices? That seems to be what you are saying.

OT: Finish this sentence-Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him to take fish from others, ...

can you quote any democrat/liberal who has said " I hope energy prices continue to rise"?

They're going to say yes, and there is a handful. Of course, there's a handful on the right too, but that's a secret - shsssssh.

Truth is, 99.9% of the population does not want higher energy prices.

I dissagree. About 1/2 the US population wants higher energy prices. Which half depends on who is in the white house. Want it or not dem policies are giving us higher energy prices.

My 99.9% is a wild ass guess, I'm thinking so is your 1/2. I certainly don't know everyone in the U.S., but nobody in my politically diverse circle of friends wants energy prices to go up.

Perhaps those in the oil and gas industry, and those who are heavily invested in it, may want prices to rise, but they would most likely be Republicans than Democrats.......just speculation on my part, but then so is every other post in this thread.

Sorry...I get quite frustrated when people look at gas prices as if they were an option for some. The last high cost a lot of jobs. I had friends who lost their businesses. You make it sound like they have some option not to drive, and think it is funny. It isn't.

What do you know that no one else seems to know that predicts $5/gallon gasoline? And did you care about this 3 years ago?

I've seen both. Hope the ones who project $5 gas are wrong, but I see a lot of environmental people who hope it comes true. Yes, I cared a lot about it 3 yrs ago. It hurt lots of businesses here in Colorado. Why do you think "drill baby drill" became a mantra....because we need to force OPEC's hand by having our own supplies. We can't do it overnight, so we should start now. Obama CAN institute more drilling, if he wanted to.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Since we supposedly went to Iraq to steal their oil, it should be much cheaper. Anyone know how much oil we get from Iraq?
