Losing side of history, Fought for a wrong headed mission, slavery! He was a great general , so was Rommel, not honoring Lee or Sherman for that matter. Great generals also choose their causes.Doing what "we were told" is fine but not to be honored.residenttroll wrote:

I have no love of Sherman, Yes the Civil War was about slavery, revise history all you want with the ridiculous States rights nonsense but it just doesn't fly. Study Rommel ? fine. Give him a f#$king holiday? no way.residenttroll wrote:

Do you actually believe that Sherman was an abolitionist....and you are suggesting that civil war was solely about slavery?
By the way, American military leaders study Hitler and Rommel. Sorry to blow your ignorance.

Lee wa a great General but fought for the wrong cause and does not deserve a holiday. I know about the Civil War, just am not honoring a General that defended the succession of the South so they could keep slavery.
