Arizona is Taking a Beating from exodus of illegals
Phoenix, AZ (AP) - SB-1070 is having an affect.
Illegal immigrants are boycotting Arizona by the thousands, showing their outrage with Arizona's controversial new SB-1070 law by moving elsewhere.
In the small town of Guadalupe , AZ, south of Phoenix , Manuel
Renaldo is one of those who is punishing Arizona by leaving. As he
loaded his stolen car with his belongings and family of ten, Renaldo
told this reporter through an interpreter "It's a matter of principle.
I refuse to be supported by a state that treats me like a criminal."
The effects of the exodus are being felt by Arizona retailers who are reporting dwindling sales of beer, spray paint, ammunition, and reduced shop-lifting. Also hit hard are the states hospitals, which have reported a dramatic decline in births and emergency room visits. Tattoo parlors are in a state of panic.
Renaldo told a reporter through an interpreter "He and his family are moving to California, which is a state that will support him and his family with dignity."
Maybe some Colorado Legislator should get this message.
For those who want to see at least one of the the sources of this "news" story, there are others equally as suspect, but none of them are from the AP as far as I can determine.. If you are going to copy and paste, please at least cite where you got it from.
What actually is sad is how much SB1070 has hurt the legal citizens of this state.....hispanics are leaving, legal as well as illegal, and it is causing great hardship on the local economy and AZ citizens, empty houses where renters have fled, whole neighborhood emptied, a great loss of tax revenue and retail income for local stores which have been forced to close their doors in primarily hispanic neighborhoods. The illegals are leaving for obvious reasons (no....not back to Mexico, they just take the problem to other states) and the legal citizens are leaving because they are being profiled and often harrassed by local authorities because you can't tell an illegal from a legal citizen just by looking at them.
AZ is broke, and these laws are not helping. I would much rather see the state put it's money on the border than into harrassing people on the streets, until you stop the flow everything else is just a band-aid, and not a very good one. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans in Washington are willing to tackle the border issue.
It's going to get ugly here.....
ps, don't be surprised when half of Arizona's hispanic population, both legal and illegal, show up in Colorado.....the rest will be in NM or NV. If you really want to make a dent in this NATIONAL problem, start harrassing your congresscritters to get to work on this problem instead of fighting among themselves.
and the legal citizens are leaving because they are being profiled and often harrassed by local authorities because you can't tell and illegal from a legal citizen just by looking at them.

Can you source this?
yeah......I live here and read the newspapers, and watch the local news (usually Fox because it is on an hour earlier than everyone else) and that is what I hear and read and see. I could go dig up the news stories, but it's late, maybe tomorrow.

I'd like to see that source too. (unless it's the Huffington post)
what a bunch of snarky little crybabies....ooh, where is it....ooooh still waiting...
Sheesh....it's Saturday morning and I just got up......why don't you go pound sand on this one.....I already told you that I am the source because of what I have heard ,seen, and read over the last year. You all put sh*t out there everyday that you don't have a specific source for but do you get all snarky with each other?, of course not. the gang of conservatives is alive and well this morning.
If I feel like it later, I'll go through the local newspaper and TV websites for the info....if I don't feel like it I wont, in which case you will start in again with the accusations and the whining and the crying and the snark ......be my guest.....might keep you busy for the day.
I'm sure you already read the huffingtonpost article (thus the snarky comment about not using them as a source) so chew on this one this morningf and I'll look for more pablum for yuou babies this afternoon, if I feel like it.
I'm concerned about legal residents who are unnecessarily leaving the state because they have bought into a lot of the misinformation about this bill," Kavanagh said.
Phoenix resident Javier Collazo, 18, a U.S. citizen who was born in California, said he is worried police may question him about his immigration status because of his appearance. He is also worried that he could be arrested under a provision of the law that makes it a crime to transport undocumented immigrants. His in-laws are undocumented, and so are several of his friends.
